Sony Thinks that Adam Sandler is Boring Too

Page Six has more fallout from the Sony hack: namely that Sony hates Adam Sandler movies! Staffers are quoted as saying the following scathing remarks about Sandler:

"Although we manage to produce an innovative film once in awhile...we continue to be saddled with the mundane, formulaic Adam Sandler films."

"In TV and Theatrical, I hope management looks closely at the money spent on development and term deals to ensure efficiency. There are a lot of term deal personnel as well as creative personnel, yet we only release a dozen or so Columbia Pictures a year, for example. And will we still be paying for Adam Sandler? Why?"

  2. Every day, I get further confirmation that my life has been lived entirely ass backwards.
I will never make as much money as Adam Sandler.

  3. I worked on several Sandler films waayyy back in the day and even though it was painful to see how bad they turned out (the only one I like is Big Daddy and I didn't work on that) I still feel compelled to point out every chance I get that he is such an incredibly nice and down to earth person and without a doubt the MOST LOYAL individual I have ever met my entire life and that is saying A LOT for someone in Hollywood. So I too don't care for his movies but will always like the guy. Don't hate the player..hate the game...sony!

    5. Paramount did the same with those Friday The 13th movies in the 80's. The Studio hated them. Was ashamed of them. After all, this was the studio who made The Godfather, Breakfast At Tiffany's, The Ten Commandments and Reds. But they kept quiet and kept churning them out because they made the studio money.

    6. Glad you said this! Regardless of what I think of his films, he's an amazing boss! I've worked on several of his movies & he throws a huge annual party for everyone who works for him (kids invited too)!

    7. I heard he used both Grown Up movies and Blended to underwrite huge family vacations for him and co-stars.
      Screw You Sony!!
Little Nicky is my all time favorite.

  4. I've heard he's super nice, too. A lot like Will Farrell - manic funnyman on screen, quiet and nice off screen.

I liked The Wedding Singer and Spanglish.

  7. Studios are like the management of professional teams - who gives a pitcher an 8 year deal when you don't know if his arm is going to last 2 years, who gives a hockey player over the age of 30 a long term deal at such ridiculous prices, yet they keep doing it, same thing with actors, all these people should be held up to minimum performance criteria or get penalized

  8. I love Happy Gilmore, that's like a Canadian classic, I enjoyed Spanglish, ha ha with Tea Leoni as his neurotic wife, 50 Dates and The Wedding Singer. I like Drew and Sandler together and sometimes one needs a movie that requires little thinking that said the last few movies by Sandler, turkeys, turduckens LOL. I can't wait to see Chris Rock's new movie I love Chris Rock and he admits some of his other movies were turkeys but he is proud of this one.

  9. I dpnt like adam sandler's comedy style or movies but. He has made truckloads and mountains of money for these ungrateful pricks. Plus as everyone else says, i have heard countless talk about what a great guy he is. So screw these pricks. Sandler hasnt changed; he's the same as he always was.

  10. Nice guy yes, but limited in his talent in my opinion. Just can't stand him. Hated him on SNL the most. I did hear Spanglish was good but cannot force myself to watch him.

  11. Now I have the Hannukah song playing in my head.

I think that Sandler has to be a nice guy because it does come out on screen. Mickey Rourke that's never going to happen if he was the best actor that ever lived.

  12. i think that's why he went to netflix.. no one wanted to fund his movies for theatrical release anymore

  13. Adam Sandler gave us Jews another Hanukkah song rather than "I have a little dreidel", which was cool of him. We seriously have next to nothing compared to all the nice Christmas tunes. It's sad.

Okay, now my Hanukkah playlist is up to three songs. Things are looking up. :D

  14. I love Sandler - Happy Gilmore, Little Nicky, Punch Drunk Love, ... With comedy for me, the dumber the better. Oh, and I like Dumb and Dumber too (not DnDTo - haven't seen it yet). Yeah I'm lowbrow like that. Can't stand Rom Coms tho.

  15. Maybe, I got it from my dad. He LOVED the Three Stooges and could not stand I Love Lucy. Eh, each to his own.

  16. The only Sandler movie I like is Spanglish. It's also the movie that made me really dislike Teá Leoni.

I can't fault someone for hating churning out shit quality movies. I'm sure Sandler's a nice guy and all but there are a million other actors I would rather see in a movie. It's like Franco, Jonah Hill, Jason Segel and Groban. I cannot STAND that little clique of actors yet they keep cranking out idiot movie after idiot movie. The movies must be making money but that doesn't mean they're good.

I wish Hollywood would try to raise the bar on quality movies (employ more actors who can actually act) and stop cranking out so much crap. This includes all of those fucking stupid Heigl/Anniston Rom Coms too.
