  1. If it were a girl would they have named it Awoman?

  2. I'm confused. I thought he was openly gay?

  3. I glanced at the title quickly, I thought it said "Tyler Perry is Dead"

  4. Read something about this on BG, but not sure if I buy this as a front. People can have mutually loving relationships outside the typical relationship binary. Mazel to the couple. I happen to love the name, too - though I was secretly hoping for Tyler Perry Presents Tyler Perry's Tyler Perry Featuring Tyler Perry.

    1. That is funny:) or surprised he didn't try and ride the Madea wave and name him Madeo.

    2. I 100% stole that either from The Soup or SNL - been a while so I don't remember.

Honored to have Tricia reply to my post.

And +1 on the pretty pic comment!

    4. Hey phrancophaux- great screenName and pic! You borrowed it but shared it (I never would've heard it) and made us chuckle so-- thanks:)

    5. @Gina right? I love the commenters here. It was always the best part of CDaN.

@Tricia thanks - Christian Bale as Laurie singlehandedly shot me into puberty. I've always fashioned myself a Jo.

  5. Afternoon all.
Tyler Perry isn't a star here at all so I don't know anything about him. I think that's a good thing.
    Congratulations though.

    1. Afternoon, IJU

He is very talented- prolific is a better word maybe. Writes/directs/stars in and produces Film and TV. But largely rumored to be gay- so the fiance/baby thing was random ish.

    2. Hey Trish. Sounds like a talented guy. Is he Alex Cross?

    3. U, he did play Alex Cross in that last movie.

    4. I thought he did the Alex Cross character justice.

I hate when you read & like the books and then they make a movie and cast someone totally inappropriate for the part (cough * Tom Cruise * Interview with a Vampire).

  6. He's annoying in my humble opinion, so yes you are lucky. I just went on a rant to a few friends the other day about how I don't find humor in men dressing up as women. It's just so stupid to me. It all came about after watching Mrs. Browns Boys.

    1. I don't either, but kinda liked when Jack Lemmon did it.

    2. Jack Lemmon was in a completely different league though

    3. Forgot about Dustin Hoffman, too. @Gina totally right.

    4. When's the last time any of you watched "Some Like it Hot"? Seems very different now when I watched it. Jacks character never was a "man" but a "boy". Isn't that odd?

    5. I HATE Mrs Brown's Boys. The only good thing about it is that they speak in actual real Dublin accents, not the faux American way a lot of tv people do here. If you want to know what I sound like, that's it.
Tony Curtis could get it from me, in drag or not. Any day.

    6. Who could hate Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari dressed as delicate females in Boosom Buddies?

  7. Never saw any of Tyler Perry's own productions, but thought he was excellent in 'Gone Girl.' He's an unusual person: really came up from nothing, family disapproved of him, was living in his car at one point. He really believed in his vision and built a minor empire. I have a lot of respect for him as an individual.

    1. I was pleasantly surprised with him in Gone Girl, too. There was some buzz about a supporting nom but that may have completely died by now.

    2. I don't hear Gone Girl talked about at all in the Oscar race, which is pretty amazing considering it is a David Fincher film.

  8. Mazel to the family! (I also read it as "Tyler Perry is Dead")

I remember reading an article where he said if he'd known how popular the book was or about Fincher's body of work, he wouldn't have taken the role.

    1. @7. Why would he have turned down gg?? He doesn't want the cult following. I thought that was his best work.

  9. I loved him in gone girl. . He needs to do more actual acting than silly madea for the millionth time.. he is a very good actor when he takes it seriously. .
yes I remember seeing parts if the Oprah interview. He was molested very young and had no real upbringing but he built an empire in Atlanta and a lot of movies and TV shows are being filmed there now because of his studios and government tax credits. . He just bought a new movie studio awhile back..

Yes he is gay but closeted.. the girlfriend is really just a surrogate but most people are just really respectful of his private life and don't go digging. . They let him live his life. .

Mazel Lil Perry. . I hope you get a sibling soon..aman will need a playmate.

  11. My BIL was in that awful Madeas Christmas movie and he said that Tyler Perry is an awesome guy. Very nice, down to Earth kind of guy. I don't really think the Madea movies are funny, but he seems like a good person. Mazel to the family.

  12. As I said in the other post about Adam Sandler, I looooooove dumb comedies. The dumber the better. Therefore, I love Madea so much. I could watch Diary of a Mad Black Woman everyday. That and Tommy Boy, and Friday, with Ice Cube and Chris Tucker. Cheers, BW
