Deep Thoughts

What's your favorite adjective?

30 comments:

  1. Anything with positive vibes - happy, nice, warm, cheerful, etc.

Except a few days a month when the only adjectives that seem right are all negative.

    1. Gigantor the space-age robot, he's at- your command. His power is in your hands. Man, that show is at last 50 years old. My brothers loved it.

  4. noisome and asinine.

I learned them from one of those Word-A-Day vocabulary calendars back in grammar school. Been using them ever since. Very useful words.

  6. Goddamn. I say it at least three times per minute.

  7. LOL @Brenda L!

I like adjectives that mean something very different from what they sound like. "She is very adroit" sounds like robotic but it actually means clever. "He has a fecund mind" sounds like a dirty mind but it's actually inventive. Intransigent sounds like moving - it's uncompromising. Sartorial sounds like sarcastic, but is actually about clothing and style. Wheedling sounds like someone being annoying, it actually means complimenting. So many more!

  8. Amatory - I'm feeling rather amatory today ;)

  9. "Happy" and I'm currently searching for where to order a gold necklace in a cute bubbly font like the Carrie necklace, that won't tarnish and won't break the bank. If anyone has a recommendation I'd really appreciate it! I've been looking on Etsy but I'm not sure what specifics to look for.

    1. What do you want the necklace to say?

    2. Check this link out Kat. They will do it in Sterling silver for $24.99 and it says if you want that gold plated, they'll do that no extra charge.

      Sorry no clicky. Always eBay!

    4. Thank you so much Min but I'm pretty sure gold plating tarnishes. I've been looking on Etsy but I'll try EBay :)

    5. Here are the makers of the original Carrie necklace. Not exactly cheap, but I got mine from them 14 years ago and it still looks great :)

  11. Any of the many configurations of the F-word work for me (on a daily basis).

I also like the word shiney when used in the manner of the crew of the Serenity. How are you feelin today? Shiney! Any Firefly fans out there?
When people annoy me or piss me off - I shine them on. Slapping a positive over a negative.

    1. @MinPin - HUGE Firefly and Serenity fans here! We say shiny all the time, even our business includes the word! I got the coolest t-shirt for my birthday, it's the Serenity ship done as Starry Night, which of course goes with the Jayne hats that I knitted for all of us and SO's "Aimin' to Misbehave, Need Coffee" mug. :)

    2. I'd say you absolutely qualify as a Firefly fan. I love the Jayne hats. I've seen patterns for them but I don't knit. That shirt sounds really cool.

  12. DOH! Should be spelled SHINY! Not firing on all cylinders today.

    1. That's okay MinPin, it's Xmas eve! And besides, no one judges on spelling. I too throw a whack of shine on rude/annoying people, nothing pisses them off more :)

  13. Those are my two words too. My SIL says "fudge" instead of fuck and it just doesn't have the same effect.
