Amy Adams and The Today Show

On Monday, Amy Adams was pulled from her scheduled interview on The Today Show because she refused to address the Sony Hack. Page Six reports that Harvey Weinstein has now gotten involved, and is furious that she was not allowed to appear. Unless Weinstein has lost some of his clout, expect Adams to appear on The Today Show soon.

    2. If you believe it's an entertainment show, as I do, then they should do whatever the celeb wants. If you think it's a news show, as they seem to, they have the right to ask anything timely.

  2. Amy needs to tell NBC to eff off and trot on down the street to GMA.

  3. Weinstein is a major jerk but he's right to be ticked. Amy didn't want to talk about it, she shouldn't have to. It's like demanding Hilary Swank give her views about Dr Kevorkian.

The best part is when her publicist said that the junior producer told her this is a news show, Sony debacle is news, you have to talk about it - then she sees out of the corner of her eye a piece with someone brushing a dog's teeth and asks, "This is news?"

  4. I'm sure if they asked, she would've found a simple way to say she didn't want to discuss it. I think there is more to this than they are leading on.

    2. I REALLY, REALLY want to see Birdman. Michael Keaton is my favorite actor of all time and I am so glad he's finally getting some recognition for his talent. Yes, my favorite movie (personal favorite and favorite of his) is Batman, but I've loved everything he's done. One overlooked gem of his is "Desperate Measures" but you also can't go wrong with pretty much everything he's done with two great comedies he's done being "Night Shift" with Henry Winkler and "Multiplicity". The most overlooked actor in the history of Hollywood in my opinion.

    3. I'm in 100% agreement with you. NBC, especially the "news" division, has become nothing more than the marketing department for Universal.

  6. I always thought it was standard operating procedure for fluff interviews on shows like Today, GMA etc, that if the person said beforehand not to ask certain questions, everyone went along with it? Not sure why this became an issue, but Today could have said "Okay we won't ask", or even if they did Amy could have just said "No comment". The whole thing is just weird.

  7. Why is Amy Adams an authority on the Sony leak? Why would anyone care what she thinks of the leak? There is more to this than that.

Also Big Eyes got way better reviews than Unbroken. If Unbroken doesn't work I honestly don't believe it will be due to Angie, but more to the book. I know it was on the best seller list for a long time and I liked the writers other work (Seabiscuit) but this book was plodding to me.

I never even got to the POW part before I gave up. Just could not get through it. Based on sales however it's probably just me.

  8. I think because Amy may have been mentioned in one of the Sony emails that mentioned how the actors got paid more than the actresses in American Hustle?

  9. I agree that there's got to be more to this story than what is being said, it seems so weird that the Today show wouldn't just back down (the day they become a real news show is the day Fox News becomes the voice of the democratic party). That being said, I hope Weinstein tears them a new one - I have been sick of the Today show for a long time, I would happily love a nice celebrity boycott of the show or something.

  11. Bradley Cooper and one other (Christian Bale?) person associated with American Hustle were on the Today Show the week before, and they didn't ask them anything about Sony. You know they just wanted to stir up some shit, those assholes. I quit watching the Today Show a LONG time ago because they SUCK. At some point (after Katy left) they tried to make big assed celebrities out of the reporters. Katy was already high profile so they thought they were gonna somehow turn the whole panel into "stars". Matt probably wanted Ann Curry gone because she was so well liked. He doesn't want any competition.

  12. Nah, no way, you have to follow the ownership thing in Hollywood. Tthe Today Show is NBC -- part of NBC-Universal-Comcast. No way in hell that company has any reason to cave to Harvey Weinstein.
