    1. Best wishes to you both. Pancreatic cancer is particularly pernicious.

      As Meanie would say,Fuck Cancer.

    3. Lost a loved one to PC. It can be quite pernicious, but sometimes if it hits a specific part of the pancreas, outlook is much better. Best luck to you and the loved one.

  4. Gorgeous day here in VA Beach. Not warm really but windows are open, damn it! Cooking chicken and trying to come up with a sauce to go with it and pasta. Probably do lemon & garlic something or other. My go-to sauce, lol.

    1. I didn't know you lived in VB, Meanie! I was there this fall to see my brother's ship come back from the Gulf.

    2. Yes Meanie..Lemon, garlic, white wine and red pepper flakes maybe some mushrooms (if you like them) reduced would make a good sauce for chicken and pasta. Made that with Orcheitti the other night.

    3. Without the chicken was what I made. All I know was the Opster declared me the best cook eveh! That pleased me to no end. I swear he finds the simplest things so satisfying. (Hence him marrying me .)

  5. Debating whether or not to return the call from my ex-fiancé. He also messaged me on FB with "how you been?" and his profile picture is him with some woman so why is he calling? I'm curious, but maybe not that curious because he called two days ago. LOL.

Anyways, it's another beautiful day here and way too nice to be stuck at work, but that's life.

    1. I was chased down by a tenacious ex at some point. I ended up giving in and answering the phone and regretted it. My advice is do not contact him. As far as you know, he is with someone else now and you can make the choice not to get involved (if that's what you want). Take the flattery and run with it.

    2. Sounds like ego stroking for him. Or could be a play for the Catch & Release program.

  9. Starving & was so excited for two crispy beef burrito's from Taco Time. The horror when the first (which if you have ever had one, you know is also THE BEST) bite of my crispy beef burrito only to discover... BEAN! EW! Who want's crisp bean? Not THIS lady! WTF? Not only that, they forgot my mexi fries altogether. Receipt taped to the outside of the bag shows my correct order. Spent my entire lunch break & almost $9 to only drink the small coke. Volunteering at school after work, so next chance for a snack is when I get home at 4pm. So lame.

    Sorry. Needed to vent.

  10. Am trying a new recipe for Rosemary shortbread. I just pulled the pan out of the oven but I've gotta wait for it to cool. I hope it's gonna be good. I Don't have much experience baking breads or desserts (except for cookies). I do great with savory cooking but baking is another beast entirely. I'm hoping the shortbread is a home run.

    2. Holy Crap, Sherry it turned out great! It was super fast and easy to make (I ended up baking it for about 25 minutes). I also cut the servings in very small squares because it's so rich. Note: it needs to cool down a bit to set up. If you try to eat it too soon out of the oven it gets crumbly. Here's the recipe Sherry -

      Rosemary Shortbread

      3 sticks of unsalted butter
      1 cup sugar
      3 1/2 cups flour
      1/4 tsp salt
2 TBS fresh rosemary, coarsely chopped

Cream butter and sugar. Add flour, salt, and rosemary and mix until well blended. Dump onto floured surface and knead until it forms a nice, smooth ball. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for 20-30 minutes. Lightly spray baking dish (I use a ceramic 9x13" pan, I think) with non stick and fill with the dough. Smooth out until it's even. Score before baking. Bake at 350 for about 20-25 minutes, until slightly golden brown.

    3. We have a Rosemary bush in our garden so I went out and picked some fresh off that. Another way to save $$. Cooking at home but also growing your own herbs - some can get kind of pricey at the store, besides nothing beats fresh herbs.

  11. I made the mistake of going to Evolution Fresh for lunch. The wrap was delicious, but cost $11! For that price, it should have included a drink at least.
