Jeff Gordon Retiring From Racing

2015 will be Jeff Gordon's last full-time season in NASCAR. USA Today announces that Gordon, 43, will stop driving the No. 24 care that he has been driving since November 1992. There is speculation that Chase Elliott will be named as his replacement.

    I think its dumb too, but their fans really love it, so it must have some appeal.

    It's like baseball (to me), it's just the thrill of being in the stands. Used to be everyone wanted to see the wrecks but now because they're going so much faster (even with greater safety measures) people actually die. Dying is really bad and thankfully does not hold much entertainment value for the fans. Why they watch it now, I'm going with the thrill of getting drunk with yer buddies.

    Now he can chase Mark Consuelos around full time. Didn't they spend a month or so together in Australia while MC was filming.

      @sugar... When Consuelos was filming The Great Raid on location in Australia, Gordon was with him. Rumor had it they shared a suite. In any case, tongues were wagging; even in Australia they're on to Gordon.

      I've quit trying to understand Hollywood marriages. Kelly may not mind though. She's said she finds seeing Mark kissing another man "perversely sexy" (an unfortunate choice of words):

      So she may look the other way--or even watch! Heaven knows there are plenty of men who'd *love* to watch their wives with another woman.

    When I heard the news yesterday, I knew I was officially old. It's the end of an era. :-(

    I got pulled into the sport, kicking & screaming, cuz of a little family kidlet I adored. Gordon had just won his 1st Championship. After 4 Championships & multiple records broken, I'm sadden but it's not unexpected.

    Being at a race & watching it on TV are two different things. You can truely feel electricity in the air when the green flag drops & the stands rumble as the cars fly by. And the fans are some of the nicest in the world. :-)

    While it might've started out as a redneck sport, the racing communites have contributed tremendously to the safety & techology in our everyday vehicles.

    I haven't been a diehard fan since The Race to The Chase was instituted & the cars all have the same template,

    I'll watch this year, though, for nostaglia's sake. Maybe even whoop & hollar a bit! :-D
