Nick Cannon Has Filed For Divorce From Mariah Carey

We all knew it was coming, but Nick Cannon has officially filed for divorce from Mariah Carey. TMZ reports that they couple have already settled the property between them, but if Cannon violates the prenup's confidentiality clause he has to pay a $250K penalty, while Carey would have to pay $500K. The prenup also states the couples' net worths when they entered the marriage: Carey was at $150 million, while Cannon was at $500K.

  1. The question is: How much did Carey make during their marriage? That's the money that's in play for Canon. Besides her judging turn on American Idol, what has she done that has generated income? Nothing big that I can think of, really. Makes no difference what their respective worth was at the time of the marriage, it's what 'community property' money was earned during the marriage.

    1. @Karen W-Since this didn't drag on forever, I have a feeling that was already decided by the prenup.

  3. LOL good one AuntLicky. You know he's not walking away with just what he came in with. There's so much more he's going to get. She has stumbled across a few stages so she's made some $$.

  4. I think he's made more money too in the marriage. The hosting gigs, radio etc. I don't think it hurt him career wise to be Mr Mariah Carey. I hope those kids have nice nannies. Mariah's a mess.

  6. he has made millions $$$ since he married her
    president of nickelodeon
agt, wild n out, his radio shows.. he used her as a stepping stone and made bank $$$$

i still think her move to vegas is a cover for nick getting primary custody and her being on the west coast to be near them
no one in their right mind would give her custody
he had them for christmas not her and they didn't share like she had planned
he had them in la and she was alone in aspen

  8. Why would she have to pay double if she breaks the confidentiality clause? You'd think it would be the other way around.

  9. @minpin: I think that has something to do with the enormous income disparity between the two as they went into the marriage.
