  1. I really hope this is a sign that Michael Keaton wins the Oscar. I'm rooting for you buddy!
In other news, Eddie Redamyne creeps me out. I don't know why, but he does.

    1. I hope so, but the Academy tends to go for drama over comedy almost every time. (They get it wrong a lot too.)

  3. Initiate GRIPE Sequence......

THEORY OF EVERYTHING disappointed me big time for the incessant God chatter. Our hero is an unapologetic atheist in real life. There's a patronizing smugness on the part of others when the subject turns to the big G. He may be physically crippled but what really is crippling is his lack of faith. Towards the end theres a glancing moment where SH appears to find the existence of G credible and everyone looks pretty relieved.

BOYHOOD.... another sensitive coming of age story... because we haven't wasted enough film stock on white boys fucking for the first time. Because boomers self love and endless idyll of their youth can't be restrained where it doesn't belong.... his dad gives him a cd of Beatle songs. Omg! Now he's the perfect white boy! He tucked and paid homage to Boomer Youth!!!!

    TERMINATE GRIPE Sequence

    1. Hey Guido - I had the same sort of feeling about The Theory of Everything, and I think it's due to the fact that it was adapted from Jane Hawkjng's book about their relationship. If it was based on Mr. Hawking's thoughts it might have been very different, but I dont think he cares to delve into his personal life much.

  5. Agree. I wanted the entire movie to be Told a Swinton and the twins. But nooooooo the repertoire cast of loonies needed attention.

This is the one time I like Ralph Feinnes. He had warmth... he never has warmth. Remember that tedious love story he was in? Ugh. I've seen fish on ice with more warmth.

  6. Wasn't BIRDMAN filmed in one take or a limited number of takes? Why would it win an editing award then? Though, I have loved Stephen Mirrione's work since that movie GO. The guy knows how to cut a movie.

    1. Filmed to look as if one take but not actually one super long take.

  7. Agree +2. Most over-rated director today. I HATE his entire actors talking to the camera style. I didn't like it much when Jonathan Demme used to do it either but at least with a Demme picture you know it was going to lead you somewhere.
