Bethenny Getting...High?

The latest addition to Bethenny Frankel's ever-expanding Skinnygirl empire? Pot! Us Weekly reports that Frankel is working on launching a strain of Skinnygirl Marijuana that would not cause users to get the munchies. The line would be available in Alaska, Colorado, Oregon, and Washington; all the states where recreational marijuana is legal. Apparently the mogul wants to get it on the ground floor of the highly profitable cannabis industry.

  1. Curious how they are going to invent some pot that doesn't give you the munchies. Free advice...immediately after you smoke, brush your teeth, it helps a lot with that. Back in my smoking days I always carried a toothbrush and toothpaste in my purse.

  2. Seriously. Are they going to make cannabis that doesn't make Oreos taste like a gift from the heavens? I never felt that weed made me hungry, just that it made food (and everything else) so much better. This is what being high is. It's like making alcohol that doesn't make you drunk.

  3. THC causes the munchies. Her idea is like finding a painkiller as strong as morphine that doesn't cause sedation. They go together.

  4. Could they develop something to make her likable? There's a real challenge.

  5. I would like a strain that kills pain but doesn't make me hungry. This will be a big seller as much as I hate to admit it. Lots of people want to kill pain without gaining weight

  6. I'm sure with the advanced cross-breeding of strains that's likely to occur due to legalization, they could quite likely make one that doesn't make you hungry - just like they can make a strain that gives you the medicinal benefits without getting you high.

    1. That being said, if this is true, she is one enterprising woman. That is some ground floor shit right there.

  7. While marijuana DOES produce increased appetite in some subjects, this doesn't apply to everyone. Furthermore, some suggest that the "munchies" is a culturally contingent social construction. In other words, smoke someone out that lives in an area plagued by food insecurity and see what they know about the munchies.

  8. LOL @Snarky!

It makes good business sense, like how Taco Bell's sales went up something like 700% in Colorado after MJ was legalized. Get it!

  9. They well may be able to develop a strain of marijuana that doesn't stimulate the appetite but it's not likely to produce any high, either. Here's a short article on the subject of marijuana and appetite, written simply but with journal references for those who want a more scholarly view:

BF may be relieved to learn that pot may have some use in weight control!
