Ann Curry Finally Departing NBC

You're probably reading this thinking, didn't that happen years ago? But Page Six reports that Ann Curry is finally leaving NBC. Curry departed the Today Show two and a half years ago with a huge contract, and has filed a few reports since as a correspondent for NBC. She is unhappy because she's doing nothing, and NBC is unhappy because they're paying her to do nothing. Curry will be setting up her own production company when she leaves.

  1. I thought she was already out the door.

How do I get a job where I make a ton of money for very little work?

  2. I feel like she was set up to fail. GL to her.

    1. I would say there's been more than a couple of women set up to fail on that show. Remember Deborah Norville? Yet Matt Lauer just keeps on going.....

  3. I want to be paid to do nothing. As it is I have to fight to be paid for the something I do.
She should just write a tell all about behind the scenes at the Today show (and confirm what a douche everyone knows Matt Lauer is) and be done with it. Maybe retire and buy Tiger Woods Island or something.

    1. @Bacon, oh how I wish she'd write a tell all! Sadly, she probably signed something while she was working there preventing her from doing so.

    2. Spot on my friend. Spot on, those non compete/no reveal sort of things. It's a shame there isn't a loophole. Like you know, changing the names to rhyme?
Pat Bauer is a douchy mcdouchalistic DOUCHE who has no respect and ran me out of the SoKay show because Pat Bauer is a dickhead and did I mention he's a douche?

  4. Is there any news show, morning or evening with so much back stage drama? And it usually all comes back to Lauer. Is he really all that popular these days? NBC News needs to cut him free and re-format.

    1. From 1976 to 1989 Jane Pauley was the co-host, with Tom Brokaw from 1976–81 and Bryant Gumbel from 1982–89, of NBC's Today. Remember when that show was more about REAL news and less about trying to turn the broadcasters into TV "personalities?"

  5. I really honestly think Lauer has dirt on someone. He is not talented, a lot of people dislike him, he throws people under the bus like they're tar paper, his wife tried to divorce him TWICE - why do they keep employing him?

Were I Ann Curry, I would've stayed on the payroll and smirked at Lauer while I set up a production company with actually talented people.

    2. @Seven I hadn't thought of that but it would surely explain why he's still there.

    3. Good theory Seven. It sure would explain why all logic says he should have been let go years ago, but is still there.

I like Ann. She wasn't the most polished news anchor, but she always seemed real to me. I hope she does well and NBC sees the errors of their ways.

  6. Nothing she will ever do will erase the fact that she actually asked someone in an interview, "What if Castro never dies?" No. She wasn't being ironic.
