Naughty Gossip Blind Item - News Anchor Coming Out

Anderson Cooper did it, and now another TV anchor is getting ready to say…”I am gay!”

The handsome newsman has already hired a publicist specializing in helping gay celebrities tell the true. Insiders say he has the full support of his network and all the staffers at his top rated broadcast!

Congrats!

  1. I saw this item yesterday somewhere and most people were guessing Shepard Smith, but the part about "full support of his network" leads me to believe it is not him. Fox News & Roger Ailes have been preventing him from coming out for years. I doubt they've had a sudden change of heart. I'm thinking it's someone from Good Morning America (top rated) but I don't watch that program, so I'm not sure.

  2. Agree with Dexamyl. David Muir is so cute.

  3. I've seen the name Gio Benitez from GMA on some gossip sites as a candidate. But I'm not sure he's a big enough "name" to make it news.

    1. Benitez is gay; in fact he's been linked in the past to David Muir!

But Gio is a reporter, not an anchor. I think DM will come out sooner rather than later. There's no higher for him to climb. Network evening news anchor is as far as you can go in broadcast journalism.

  4. Agree with Lotta and Dexamyl. When he was appointed to the job, he had a suspiciously missing personal life, and it's still missing from his Wikipedia bio. No mention of a partner, and ex-partner, or any kids or stepkids. Lots of people make it to 40 without getting married, particularly workaholic journalists, but most have had some kind of romantic entanglement along the way. A completely blank space screams 'closeted.'

  5. I don't know who Don Lemon (?) is but someone guessed him the last time this subject came up and (don't laugh) I thought it was a good guess.
I meant to google him then, I didnt, so I will now.
(Who knows, maybe he already "came out". )

    2. @Lotta
Oh noo. Lol. Thanks for info.

Well, who ever guessed it before, they were right. I don't know if they were breaking news though.
I looked him up. I only saw that he came out about being a victim of sexual abuse.
Well, about his coming out, good for him.

  7. Don Lemon is an a**hat. He told one of the Cosby rape accusers that she could've avoided being raped if she'd said she had an STD. Because that's how it works, right? Maybe she could have said she has one of those rape prevention devices that's basically a vaginal piranha then she'd be OK but probably doing time for harming Dr Huxtable's nethers.

It would not surprise me if it's someone from Faux News, though. It would be the equivalent of saying, "One of my best friends is gay -" right before saying they don't agree with homosexuality.

  9. I still dont get why they have to come out. If you're getting news or weather, does anyone really care if the newsperson is gay? Never enters my mind. I thought iy was shepard smith too, whose voice i love, but above poster is right, i dont see them being supportive. That idiot hasselbeck wld hv something asine to say im sure.
I guess they come out so others dont feel so alone? Idk.

    1. @auntliddy - I might be wrong but my theory is that's it is about beating the rumor mill to the punch. This way, they can live their life however they want without the surrounding cloud of speculation from certain publications and whispers from colleagues following them around.

    2. The suicide/attempted suicide rate amongst gay teens is very very high. When high profile public figures come out it helps toward creating a mainstream consensus that there is nothing wrong with being gay.

  10. The guy who took over from Diane Sawyer on ABC.

  11. I don't know anything about his gender preference, but David Muir had a long-term relationship with a female newscaster when he was working as a newscaster in my city.
