TV Show Roundup 8/9/17

Casting News:
The Hollywood Reporter announces that Maya Rudolph will play Ralphie Parker's mother in Fox's live musical version of A Christmas Story.

New Shows:
Deadline reports that David Letterman is making his return to TV. Well, Netflix, anyway. Letterman will have a six-episode series, that will focus on long-form conversations with guests, as well as in-field segments.

The Hollywood Reporter announces that Peter Krause and Angela Basset will star in Ryan Murphy's new series 911, to air on Fox.

Reboots:
Since networks have run out of good ideas, they are just looking to resuscitate any decent show from the past two decades, and I'm not really mad at the trend. E! News reports that the latest show to get that treatment is Fox's King of the Hill. Nothing is official yet, but preliminary talks have begun.

Renewals:
The Hollywood Reporter announces that HBO has renewed Insecure for a third season, and Ballers for a fourth season.
