Legendary songwriter and performer Leon Russell has passed away at the age of 74. Russell wrote Joe Cocker's Delta Lady and The Carpenter's Superstar, and played piano on The Beach Boys' California Girls and Jan and Dean's Surf City. His own hits include Tight Rope and Lady Blue. Russell is survived by his wife Janet, daughters Blue, Tina Rose, Sugaree, Honey, and Coco, and son Teddy Jack. Read his full obituary at the Los Angeles Times.
