Stieg Larsson wrote The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo trilogy, but sadly passed away in 2004 before the books were published. The trilogy was such a huge success for their publisher Knopf, that the company hired a writer to continue the series. David Lagercrantz has written The Girl in the Spider's Web. The plot is being kept a secret, but the book will continue with Lisbeth Salander as the protagonist. Larsson's romantic partner of 32 years is not happy about this development. The Hollywood Reporter quotes her as follows:
"The worst thing is how saddened Stieg would have been. He never let anyone work on his literary texts. He would have been furious. Who knows, maybe he'll send a lightning bolt at the book launch."
The Girl in the Spider's Web will be released on September 1st.
