After 44 years of speculation, Carly Simon has revealed who You're So Vain is written about, and it's actually about three different men! People reveals that Simon stated, "I have confirmed that the second verse is Warren [Beatty]. Warren thinks the whole thing is about him!" On whether or not she will reveal the identities of the other men, Simon stated, "I don't think so, at least until they know it's about them." Well played, Carly! I've often thought that she dated more than one narcissistic dude who thought the song would be about only them, so she intentionally made it about more than one, knowing that each would think it was about him and him alone!
