Rapper Prodigy from the duo Mobb Deep has passed away at the age of 42. His rep released the following statement: “Prodigy was hospitalized a few days ago in Vegas after a Mobb Deep performance for complications caused by a sickle cell anemia crisis. As most of his fans know, Prodigy battled the disease since birth. The exact causes of death have yet to be determined.” He last performed a few days ago in Las Vegas, where temps hit 110 during the outdoor concert. TMZ reports that Prodigy choked on an egg while hospitalized on Tuesday morning; no word yet as to the official cause of death. Prodigy is survived by his two children.
