Iconic actress Mary Tyler Moore has passed away at the age of 80 from pneumonia due to complications from diabetes (Mary was a Type 1 diabetic). Her longtime rep issued the following statement: “Today, beloved icon, Mary Tyler Moore, passed away at the age of 80 in the company of friends and her loving husband of over 33 years, Dr. S. Robert Levine. A groundbreaking actress, producer, and passionate advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Mary will be remembered as a fearless visionary who turned the world on with her smile.”
Mary starred on two iconic TV series, first on The Dick Van Dyke Show, then on The Mary Tyler Moore Show; she won Golden Globes and Emmy Awards for both roles. She also garnered an Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe win for her role in the movie Ordinary People. Moore is survived by her third husband, Dr. Robert Levine.
