Hilaria Baldwin is on the cover of this month's Fit Pregnancy and Baby Magazine. Here's what she had to say:
Flexible Goals Are Better
“I prided myself on being a Super Breastfeeding Mommy [she nursed Carmen for 15 months], but I was only able to breastfeed Rafa until he was 10 months old. I got pregnant again, and my milk supply went way down. But the fact that I didn’t breastfeed him for as long as I’d intended is okay. We beat ourselves up for not being perfect, but there’s something to be said for letting go.”
I Don't Skip Workouts
“So many women give up. They think, I’m a mom now, so I’m always going to be out of shape. No! I’m of the opinion that just because we’re pregnant doesn’t mean we’re sick. Let’s be strong and in the best shape possible. I still jog four miles, four days a week, though I plan to switch to swimming soon. I do barre class three times a week. And I do yoga every day. For me, it’s all part of having a healthy mind-set.”
Yoga Can Be a Natural Cure
“I get restless leg syndrome, so rather than toss and turn all night, I get up and do bedside yoga. Pigeon pose is the best, because it releases your glutes and opens your hips. Between that and Alec’s leg rubs, I’m a happy person.”
Appreciate What You Achieve
“Between three pregnancies and breastfeeding, I’ve not had my body to myself in years. It’s easy to find that overwhelming. But as much as pregnancy brings aches, pains, sleeplessness, and all kinds of very uncomfortable things, there’s something so special about the fact that you can create life. I look at Carmen, and I think, ‘I made you.’ I mean, my husband had something to do with it too, but the incubation, the growing, the delivery—that’s my job, and it’s incredible.”
