Hugh Hefner has passed away at the age of 91 from natural causes, at home at the Playboy mansion, surrounded by loved ones. Hefner founded Playboy 1952 using an old calendar company photograph of a nude Marilyn Monroe.
Hefner's son Cooper, who is now Playboy's Chief Creative Officer, wrote in the company's statement, "My father lived an exceptional and impactful life as a media and cultural pioneer and a leading voice behind some of the most significant social and cultural movements of our time in advocating free speech, civil rights and sexual freedom. He defined a lifestyle and ethos that lie at the heart of the Playboy brand, one of the most recognizable and enduring in history."
Hefner is survived by his third wife Crystal, 31, and his children Christie, 64, David, 61, from his first marriage to Mildred Williams, and his children Marston, 27, and Cooper, 26, from his second marriage to Kimberley Conrad, 55. Read his full obituary at Vanity Fair.
