The Exorcist author William Peter Blatty has passed away on Thursday at the age of 89 from a form of blood cancer. In addition to writing the novel, Blatty also wrote and produced the film version. Blatty is survived by his wife Julie Alicia Blatty, their children Paul William Blatty, Christine Charles, Mary Joanne Blatty, and Jennifer Blatty, his two sons from earlier marriages Michael and William Peter Jr, seven children, and six great-grandchildren.
