People reports that former Manson Family member Leslie Van Houten has been found suitable for parole after being imprisoned since 1978. Van Houten is the youngest of the Manson Family, and was convicted of the brutal 1969 slaying of Leon and Rosemary La Bianca. Van Houten was not present at the Tate murders. The parole recommendation will now go to the Board of Parole to be reviewed, a process that takes up to 120 days. If it passes that step, the recommendation will be sent to California Governor Jerry Brown, which takes an additional 30 days. Unsurprisingly, relatives of the La Biancas are vehemently against the recommendation, stating: “No member of the Manson family deserves parole, ever. She is a total narcissist and only thinks of herself and not the damage she has done...Please see to it that this fight doesn’t have to happen every year for the rest of our lives.”
