Jerry Lewis Has Passed Away

Comedic legend Jerry Lewis has passed away at the age of 91 at his home in Las Vegas. Lewis's long career saw him pairing with Dean Martin in the 50s as Martin & Lewis, and he made the comedy classics The Bellboy and The Nutty Professor in the early 60s. Lewis was the national chairman of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and he hosted his famous Labor Day Telethon, which raised nearly $2.5 billion from 1955 to 2011. Lewis was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize in 1977 due to his work with the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Lewis was extremely popular in Europe, winning "best director" awards eight time there over his career. Lewis is survived by his second wife, SanDee Pitnick, whom he married in 1983, and their daughter; and by five sons from his first marriage, to Patti Palmer, which ended in divorce. Another son predeceased him. Read his full obituary at The Hollywood Reporter.
