Actor and current SAG president Ken Howard passed away on Wednesday at the age of 71. Howard's career spanned 47 years, and he is fondly remembered as the star of The White Shadow. He is survived by his wife Linda Fetters Howard. Read his full obituary at The New York Times.
This is the first time that a SAG president has passed away while in office. Gabrielle Carteris, who you probably remember as Andrea Zuckerman on 90210, was the Executive Vice President of the Screen Actors Guild. She will take over as acting president until the next national board meeting on April 9-10, when the board will elect a president to serve out the duration of Howard's term, which was to last until October 2017. Carteris herself could be elected to serve out Howard's term as president, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
