One of these couples has a lot of dirt on one another and are extremely image conscious. One of the parties has a major ax to grind and has no problem spilling all the tea. The problem is that turnabout is fair play and the other one will do the same in kind. It's going to be a delicious bloodbath.
The other couple is an instance of three is a crowd although one fell very hard, very fast and has a lot of hurt feelings causing them to spin-out a bit when they're known for their level headedness. The third party in this relationship has no problem exploiting it, either.
