Interpol Stuck in Snow for Two Days

The band Interpol is stranded on their tour bus in the giant snow storm that hit Buffalo, NY. They were en route to play a show in Toronto. They have been tweeting about the experience. Read the tweets here. They have been stranded for over 50 hours and counting. It looks like they may have finally started making some progress early this morning:

  2. I can't imagine. I feel for the people stuck in their cars! At least this is a tour bus and they have food and drink and beds!

  3. I was born in Buffalo, but moved to San Diego when I was young. My Buffalo FB friends have been posting pictures. It is wild there right now. The weird thing is initially the south side of town was completely covered in snow, while the north side was fine. Now it is all under several feet of snow. The Bills play the Jets this weekend in a Buffalo. The stadium does not have a roof and the field is under several ft of snow. They are offering anyone that can get to the stadium safely, $10/hr and a free ticket to the game if they come shovel snow.

    1. In a Buffalo? Fat fingers and iPads don't mix well. I meant In Buffalo.

    2. How are they going to have that game with this kind of weather?

    3. I have no idea, but the fact they are offering jobs to clear the field means they are optimistic they can pull it off.

    4. I heard something on the news about fans clearing the field, but I thought they asked for volunteers. It's nice they're getting paid and a ticket to the game.

  6. Yep auntliddy they better hurry up and try to get out of Dodge before the next lake effect wave comes. A radio station was talking to a guy in a motel in Hamburg and he said he went for a little walk and it looked no one has plowed the I90 YET where he was. He could get to McDonalds for food but they will run out if they can't get in a delivery by the end of today. Imagine people who are sick and elderly and rely on home care etc. I see a huge spike in snowmobile sales.

    1. There is an excellent documentary series called The Tipping Point and one episode explains why these brutal winters are happening - it is all related to global warming effecting the polar ice caps and shifting the weather patterns. Whether you believe it is all man made or part of a historical climate cycles or both, it's scary.

  7. I lived in Denver during the blizzard of '82 and '83. For years after I kept a sweatsuit, extra hats, blankets, non perishable food and water in my trunk every winter. They had people go missing that weren't found until the snow melted that spring. Thank god I live in the south now. I feel sorry for all the people in the northern states that are getting buried by this snow. It is scary for the elderly or single folks when the weather gets bad. We check in on our Colorado family often.
