Broadway veteran Barbara Cook has passed away at the age of 89 from respiratory failure. Cook originated the role of Cunegonde in Leonard Bernstein's Candide in 1956, and the role of Marian the Librarian in The Music Man in 1957, for which she won a Tony Award. She continued to perform on Broadway until the early '70s. One of her signature songs was Vanilla Ice Cream from the musical She Loves Me. She is survived by her son Adam LeGrant, who told the New York Post, "And vanilla ice cream is the last thing she ate -- the God's honest truth."
