Don Rickles passed away at home on Thursday at the age of 90 from kidney failure. The story goes that Rickles got his first big break when Sinatra came to see him perform in 1957, and Rickles said to the audience, "Make yourself at home, Frank. Hit somebody." Rickles made numerous appearances on the Tonight Show, and at Dean Martin's televised roasts. Rickles is survived by his wife Barbara, daughter Mindy, son-in-law Ed, and grandchildren Ethan and Harrison. Rickles' son Larry passed away in 2011. Read his full obituary at The Hollywood Reporter.
Frequent vacation buddies of Don and Barbara Rickles, Bob and Ginnie Newhart, released the following statement: "He was called 'The Merchant of Venom,' but in truth, he was one of the kindest, caring and most sensitive human beings we have ever known. We are devastated, and our world will never be the same. We were totally unprepared for this."
