Jessica Alba's Honest Company is being sued by a consumer in California; Attorney Nicholas Carlsin is trying to turn this into a class action suit. What is he suing for? The lawsuit alleges that the Honest Company falsely states that its products are "natural," reports CNN. Ha! The jokes on him! He is apparently one of the many people that don't realize that the word "natural" has exactly zero meaning in America. You can slap "natural" on a bag of Doritos; nothing's stopping you. The FDA has never formally defined "natural," and there is no governing body that oversees what is and what isn't "natural" (hard to do when they can't even define it!). There's an article about it in the New York Daily News if you want to read more about it.
And for those of you who care what is in the products that you buy, visit the Environmental Working Group. Follow the link to their consumer guides here; they score sunscreens, cosmetics, skincare products, food, cleaning products, etc. If you want to know whether or not the products you're using are harmful, they'll tell you!
