This is such a pet peeve of mine after working at a doctor's office for 8 years. Also, no countries have drug ads on TV except the US, Canada and New Zealand.
I worked for drs, and they wld take all the freebies but wrote whatever prescriptions they wanted, lol. Eventually, the lunches dwindled way way down, lol. And they never went to any of these talks or gave them or anything like that, and i think most drs are like that. Hope so anyway
Julie-as for drug ads, by the time they get done liating side effects, most people will stick with oringinal aiment i think. But i believe you have to be extremely pro active on your own behalf. Wuestion the medications, read the little origami paper that comes with your meds, check for interactions of meds u already taking, refuse meds if not totally needed. A dr has a whole practice to deal with, you just have you. Take hold of your own healthcare!
I totally agree. While I am proactive, I'm afraid many, many people just trust what their doctors tell them to take. As for me, I'm ready to vomit by the end of the list of side-effects in the ads. My doctor has tried to prescribe some of those same drugs to me, and I always tell him "hell no".
Goodness how I missed him and his SNARK.
ReplyDeleteMee too! Mr wahoo and I watch it religiously and laughed are asses off!!! Please don't ever go away for 3 months again. That was too long!
