Any Galactic or MMW fast track will always give me goosebumps and make me want to drop everything and dance. But as far as oldies, Higher Ground by Stevie Wonder and most Depeche Mode or INXS dance tracks get me out of my seat.
Also, The Scissor Sisters, any high energy 80's music and that one song from Junior Senior - Move Your Feet makes me groove. There are many many more but I won't bother you with a list. :-)
A bit before my time too but my older sisters used to listen to them all the time and one of my sisters had posters of them all over her room and they would follow me with their eyes. I heart disco.
This dates me I guess but I saw The Bee Gees in concert (on the Stayin Alive tour) AND I saw Andy Gibb on tour (before he died). Oh the screaming teenagers (for Andy)!
HonkyTonk Woman - Stones Addicted to Love - Robert Palmer I Don't Feel Like Dancing - Scissor Sisters Brick House - Commodores Wild Wild West - Escape Club Get Down on It - EWF Boogie Shoes - KC & the Sunshine Band Anything from the Gap Band Anything by Prince Anything from the soundtrack of "Saturday Night Fever"
I call all of the above the Cuervo Gold Playlist (or songs the old fat 51-y.o. woman, 5'4" with short legs, would have danced to in her fantasy job as a tall, thin, willowy long-legged stripper with a fat bank account and lots of coke.).
I remember how popular this song was, and the video had all the super models. That was back when George Michael was a heart throb and assumed straight.
Mock me if you must, but I have always loved Hall & Oates. Their classics like, "Private Eyes", "Your kiss is on my list", and "You make my dreams come true" always lift my mood.
Got to Give It Up - Marvin Gaye Groove is in the Heart - Deeeelite Holiday or Get Together - Madonna Old Motown Rock Steady - Aretha Franklin Tightrope - Janelle Monae Fantasy - Earth, Wind and Fire Sexy Motherf^cker - Prince MasterBlaster Jamming - Stevie Wonder
I listen to a lot of 80s music on my mp3 player at work, Smooth by Santana featuring Rob Thomas, Kokomo by the Beach Boys, and Out of Touch by Hall and Oates all get me moving a little more rhythmically.
Currently or historically?

ReplyDeleteLove your oldies list. I miss INXS and wonder what would have happened with them if Michael hadn't died.
DeleteI love Galactic - saw them at Jazzfest several times.
DeleteSpeaking of UB 40, I love their version of Red Red Wine. There are just so many, some already mentioned.
ReplyDeleteCameo - Word Up, Frankie Goes to Hollywood -Relax,
And I hate to admit it -on the more recent side- Blurred Lines and Moves like Jagger by Maroon 5
I hate myself for loving Blurred Lines, but it is just so catchy and danceable.
DeleteAdd me to the list of self-loathing Blurred Lines lovahs. I also find "Give it to U" by Thicke and Kendrick Lamar equally as dance worthy.

@Sugar, I love the Bee Gees! Their heyday was a bit before my time, but my dad loved them and I have great memories of us listening to them together.
