Celebrity Real Estate - Steve Martin Edition
Steve Martin has put his Montecito home on the market for almost $11 million. The 7,377 square foot home sits on 5.86 acres, and features four bedrooms, and guest house, and views of the ocean. See pictures of the property at Curbed.
Golly! It looks like a fall-out shelter.
ReplyDeleteLove the stove. Love the overstuffed chairs in the bedrooms.
Good God that's uglay. And no vegetation around the house. Just wide open lawn and blazing sun. Looks like someone scraped off a mountain and leveled the land and plunked a Getman Industrial bunker there. Ugh. And this guy collects art?
ReplyDeleteI feel like I'm supposed to hate this house because of the stone and it being semi-underground, but I actually like it a lot. And it's owned by Steve Martin, a man I adore (seriously, read his books, he's fantastic). Definitely on my real estate bucket list.
ReplyDeleteSeven..His books are very good. I adored Shop Girl and his description of women in H'wd as "ironing boards with bowling balls". So perfect.
DeleteI don't care for most of the furniture, but I rather like these digs! I've always wanted a house that was underground or partially underground.
ReplyDeleteShrugs, different strokes for different folks...
I think it's interesting..noticed none of his famous art collection in views..guess he gave them to museums, or perhaps didn't want them in pics.
ReplyDeleteI like it. I just went through the couch cushions and I'm about $10,000,000.59 short.
ReplyDeleteThe grey is putting me off. I think if the concrete walls were stained or painted inside it would feel more comfortable. The furniture and the pool area I love.
ReplyDeleteWell, you can't say he is not consistent, he loves museums and the architecture in his house definitely looks like late '80's modern museum.
ReplyDeleteIn teresting, not as cold as some. It wld be fun to decorate. I might go frank lloyd there.
ReplyDeleteSemi underground is a good idea in a hot climate.
ReplyDeleteThe article says he's trying to unload a lot of real estate. Money problems? He's been spending a lot of time recently on his music career and his book writing, neither of which pay as well as being a movie star. No movies since 2011, except for a single voice job.
ReplyDeleteNutty, im sure he is stil loaded, prob just cutting back as he gets older.
DeleteIf it wasn't for the windows it would feel like a giant basement.
