I know!! I want to find the Cracker Barrel hashbrown recipe now. I just felt bad because her weight has sometimes been an issue. Really though, I'm just hungry and never understood what a #hashtag is/was supposed to be. Good for her for twittering, I guess. I'm sure her fans appreciate it. #hashtagderekisoverher
It's the "I'm a chubby funny person, see?!" shtick. It wears thin pretty fast. There are many fat comedians whose entire act consists of fat jokes. I have hertochromia - if I did 20 minutes on having two different color eyes, how long would that be interesting? If in every film I did I was cast as the "jolly heterochrome neighbor/sister/sidekick/housekeeper/scoutmaster/ex-wife", after 3 movies I'd be done. I have no idea if she's capable of serious acting, because she hasn't tried to the best of my knowledge.
I don't know Kno, it was a great pick-up line for James MacAvoy aka Charles Xavier in X-Men and Jennifer Lawrence aka Mystique got milage out of hertochromia as well. You just MIGHT have a future in the movies! Neither of them were jolly though, so there's that.
You forgot the "clumsy fat slob" angle to her shtick. Totally different. /sarcasm
I hated Bridesmaids and pretty much anything I've seen her in except her character on Gilmore Girls. She wasn't in your face with the "SEEHOWFATIAMITMAKESMEHILARIOUS" act.
I think she is legitimately funny. She doesn't do the "chubby funny person shtick" on her tv show, yet she is still funny. Her Bridesmaids character was hilarious, and her weight was not the focus. She's a comedian, I don't think she is trying to be a serious actor. Hollywood is also full of assholes. I don't think she could get the lead role in a serious film if she tried, because of how shallow the industry is.
She's very good in St Vincent, not overtly comedic and her weight is not an issue. There are limited decent roles for women, even less for a woman with her body type. I agree that playing the fat clown wears thin (no pun intended) but I think there's more to her than that and, if given the opportunity, she'll prove it.
I wanted to gouge my eyes out over EVERYONE in Bridesmaids - HATED that movie. I did however laugh my ass off over her and Sandy Bullock in Heat. It wasn't particularly original but it had some stupid/funny shit going on. That was a movie for when you needed a few laughs, and didn't want to think too hard.
I read that as #hashbrown and now I feel bad.
ReplyDeleteHashbrowns....mmmm.

She hashtagged a hashtag.
ReplyDeleteWell, she is cousins with Jenny McCarthy, so maybe it runs in the family.
Hashtagging a hashtag? That's a potential philosophical conundrum for future generations methinks
DeleteSuki, and only Suki, she shall be.
ReplyDeleteI don't follow.

ReplyDeleteI fell in love with her on Gilmore Girls all those years ago!
