Camille Cosby has finally broken her silence about the allegations surrounding her husband. CBS News reports that her statement was as follows:
"I met my husband, Bill Cosby, in 1963, and we were married in 1964. The man I met, and fell in love with, and whom I continue to love, is the man you all knew through his work. He is a kind man, a generous man, a funny man, and a wonderful husband, father and friend. He is the man you thought you knew.
A different man has been portrayed in the media over the last two months. It is the portrait of a man I do not know. It is also a portrait painted by individuals and organizations whom many in the media have given a pass. There appears to be no vetting of my husband's accusers before stories are published or aired. An accusation is published, and immediately goes viral.
We all followed the story of the article in the "Rolling Stone" concerning allegations of rape at the University of Virginia. The story was heart-breaking, but ultimately appears to be proved to be untrue. Many in the media were quick to link that story to stories about my husband - until that story unwound.
None of us will ever want to be in the position of attacking a victim. But the question should be asked - who is the victim?"
Denial ain't just a river in Egypt.
Very, very Dottie Sandusky.

DeleteBarf!
ReplyDeleteOh well then. Clearly those 20+ women were all spontaneously lying. Standbyyourmanitis.
ReplyDeleteWonder what his daughters think...
ReplyDeleteJessi, his daughter Evin's Facebook is open. She posts a lot in defense of her father. She fully stands by him. She doesn't mention the affairs he has admitted to. Somehow Camille and the family don't see affairs as a big issue, or how they might not be inline with his family image.
DeletePlease don't judge the daughters. I'm sure if my dad was accused of anything I'd defend him and be in denial until the end no matter what facts were presented. That's a very tough line to cross if you really think about it. They grow up thinking daddy is perfect but the wife sounds like an abettor so maybe is trying to protect herself, but it's not denial.
DeleteI'm in no way judging the daughters Kat. I was just wondering what their thoughts on all of this is. I can't imagine having allegations like this toward my father.
DeleteBe even more uncomfortable if you knew your father or saw your father behaving inappropriately at times and you had mixed feelings I imagine.
DeleteThis pisses me off. Bringing up the UV story, and casting Bill as a victim? And Bill saying the black media needs to give him a pass?
ReplyDeleteI agree. I think he is treading in dangerous territory bringing race into it. I was glad Beverly Johnson came forward, so his backers wouldn't say it is all white women accusing him, again making it a racial issue.
DeleteAll lace- it really irked me when Johnson said one of the reasons she didnt come forward was because he was black and enough people hated black men as it was. What?????!!!! So you gonna let him skate on drugging and abusing you because of that nonesense??!! So you are putting the importance of the black man having a goid image before your own health and safety? Beverly, you are worth more than him!!! You were the vic!! The hell with how anyone percieves him!!
DeleteVery rich of Bill to now beg for leniency from black media (whatever THAT means) after he attacked black society, African American culture and mentality so often and viciously! What did he suggest as a cure for the nasty rap disease in AA neighborhoods? Why, more Cliff Huxtables, naturally! Well, wouldn't that be of great benefit to every society.
DeleteEvery move made by the Cosby Camp right now makes me ill. Camille can go fuck a duck.
While I am not saying that Cosby is innocent of these allegations, I do agree will Camille's assessment of the media. There are too many instances where the press just runs with something instead of verifying the story. Most recently the University of Virginia story, but the Duke lacrosse case as well. It seems the media is trying to create/influence public opinion rather than informing the public.
ReplyDeleteThe press has ZERO to do with reporting information from some 20 plus women. It isnt a manipulation, it isnt bullshit, its facts. Now you and bill can pretend suddenly these crazed women crawled out of no where to give untrue story, or you can face the fact that your husband is pretty much a SERIAL RAPIST. Notice much of his and her defense is along lines of kill the nessenger, ie, the press is lying. Hes a piece of shit and if she gies along with thus, she us too. And she's complicit. Go to hell camille, with your bullshit defense.
ReplyDeleteAccording to Kathy Lee, Bill Cosby made cappuccino for her and tried to kiss her. She said, "No."
ReplyDeleteI'm reposting what I said last week...Wth is Camille talking about "over..the last two months..." ummmnooo....even she doesn't remember...
ReplyDelete"....I swear this type of allegation started before or during '96 - '97 because I remember living in Baltimore at the time and seeing this highrise in downtown Baltimore and knowing he supposedly had a very expensive apartment (just by word of mouth) in that VERY expensive waterfront highrise...and thinking "wow that f'n dbag rapist Huxtable lives there". And I STARTED having that thought then because there were stories waayy back then!...I left Balt the following year. So when these sorta new allegations starting coming coming out I was like "well here we go again.." but no one seems to remember this starting in the late 90's. But I KNOW I heard the same sh*t back then!!!!"
Wahoo/ u r right. These stories hv been around a long time but he always managed to evade charges or publicity. He can go straight to hell.
DeleteThank u auntliddy...I knew I wasn't nuts :) Just shocked that hasn't really come up...the LONGEVITY of this sh*t. It all seems to be played as "recent" only,
DeleteDaaayummmm...remind me not to get on your bad side derek ;)
ReplyDeletelol! I takes a lot (well usually)
ReplyDeleteAfter seeing a lot of TV coverage lately on other events, on the one hand, it is painfully clear that old time journalism is dead. The last season of The Newsroom really hit it on the head. Unfortunately the internet has been a good thing and a bad thing and the bad thing is that responsible journalism has been derailed with the old press trying to keep up with the new press, and the internet press and social media is the Wild Wild West with very little rules and accountability.
ReplyDeleteMy biggest pet peeve is how one story reports something and thousands of sites repeat the story VERBATIM yet never links to the original source. We used to call that plagiarism that used to be illegal I thought AND you would certainly fail an essay in high school or university if you tried that and got caught maybe even expelled or at least certainly lose a grade or two if you did not properly credit all your sources in an essay or paper or thesis.
On the other hand, great point that Camille conveniently forgot the lawsuit and it seems the rumours have been around for even longer than that.
The media, black and white, do all sides a disservice when they don't practice basic journalism. The number 1 rule is to be objective and report all the angles.
I didn't watch 100 per cent of the coverage of say the Ferguson situation but I kept hearing about how this poor sweet boy was going to college when he was killed by the police. Why no mention of his criminal record? For being an adult one year he sure racked up a nice slew of charges. I never knew any of this until after the grand jury decision and never heard any challenge of the parents about the fact this kid was alleged to be a gang member, his step daddy was alleged to be a member of the same gang and he was charged with second degree murder as a juvenile. That rather puts the incident in slightly different light I would argue.
Tina, that's why I got so annoyed with foreigners jumping on the bandwagon. I'm glad you finally saw both sides!

ReplyDeleteIs this bitch for real? I have read a few victim accounts where they reported Camille was present right before the time of their assaults, and she just walked away and left the room while turning a blind eye to what Bill was doing. I don't believe for a second she hasn't known about her husband's disgusting behavior for years. IMO, she is no better than him, and they both deserve each other.
