Blind Gossip Blind Item - Scorched Earth

This very famous actor is completely stressed out. It’s not just because he is getting divorced. It’s because his actress wife is messing with every aspect of his life, including his relationship with his kids… and his job!

He is shocked that she is being so scorched Earth about this. Her latest threat is about [his new film]. Even though the chemistry between the two leads is central to the film, she told him (not directly) that she will punish him if he tries in any way to look affectionate  with [His Female Costar] during the promotions. She is pretending she is worried about the kids’ reaction to him being with another woman but it’s really just about her being vicious. She wants his movie to bomb.

The irony here is that when The Actor was married to his first wife, he and The Actress had an affair while filming together … and it was their affectionate promotional appearances that got fans buzzing about them!

The Gossip Life Blind Item - Show Stealer

A comedy show has recently wrapped production and is currently scheduled for release in the next year. My sources tell me that although the series is not supposed to be a traditional ensemble, a supporting character has stolen the entire show and just dramatically shifted the focus onto them.

'It was only supposed to be a short gig,' whispers my source, 'but everyone is high on [name omitted] and just how great they are on the show that their role has been extended and made bigger.'

So, tell me, Gossipers:

Catching Up with Butch Vig

Butch Vig recently sat down for an interview with Gothamist; here are some of the highlights:

I interviewed Shirley Manson last year, and I asked her about how when a band is 20 years into their career, their records are not as vital as their earlier material. But I don't feel that way about Garbage. I like a lot of the songs from the most recent records as much as I do the earlier ones. So I'm just curious about how you're still able to keep making good music when most bands can't? Shirley felt it had to do with maintaining honesty.
"There are a couple things I think. One, we took a long break after Bleed Like Me, and we needed that break. We were burnt out from dealing with labels and doing prolonged tours. We kind of hit a wall making that record. I think if we had gone in and tried to make a fifth record, that probably would have been it. But we took an almost seven year hiatus, and when we finally got back into recording Not Your Kind of People I think we were all jazzed. And the one thing that we realized is that Garbage has always been a really great creative outlet for the four of us in the sense that we all get to contribute a variety of different things in the process.

We all make songs. We all make production decisions. I play drums, but I play guitar and bass and keyboards and I program. And I'll order the wine. I can be an engineer and a producer and I can just be the guy who sits back and surfs the internet while someone else is working on a part. So we bounce a lot of the same ideas off each other, and on different days each of us will take on a different role. And not many bands are like that. In a lot of bands, the bass player is the bass player. And the drummer is the drummer. And that's what they do. Maybe they do some social networking. But we've always shared a lot of those responsibilities and assets that Garbage brings to our table. And then there's also the fact that once we took that break, we realized that we do get along really well. Obviously I've been playing with Duke and Steve for many years. They're like brothers to me, and Shirley is like a sister to me. The band that eats together stays together. I've obviously produced bands that were so dysfunctional they can't even get in the same room together. A lot of bands become that way because they move in different directions artistically, or their personalities don't jibe.

We have days in Garbage where we get on each others' cases and we disagree about things, but ultimately I think we are kind of on the same wavelength. And I think that's another one of the reasons that we're still here. We're really pleased with how Strange Little Birds turned out. It's probably the darkest record we've made, but we like this cinematic atmospheric stuff, and I think it's inspired us to go even further out into space on the next record. We're not even sure what that is yet, but I think we want to keep challenging ourselves and to see where can we go next to keep it interesting. Hopefully our fans will keep following us."

For Siamese Dream and certain albums like the second Garbage album, there were tremendous expectations even before they came out. In those situations, did you feel a lot of pressure from outside forces or even from yourself, or did you just tune it all out once you were in the studio?
"We did feel a lot of pressure making Siamese Dream. To the point where people kept saying "Oh, it's going to be amazing. It's going to be amazing." We had some time booked to go into the studio, and then Billy Corgan called me up and said, "I'm not ready." I had gone down to Chicago and hung out with him for a day, and he played me some demos in the car, but he would only play me snippets. I could tell what was going on. Sometimes when you play music for another person, it gives you a different perspective where that music is at. And I'm sure he had heard the demos a bunch, and the band probably heard them. But then for some reason when playing them for me, I could see he was thinking, "I don't want to play this for you right now." Or he'd play it up to a certain point and stop.

Anyway, he said, "I need to finish a couple of these songs." I think about two months went by, and then he called me, and I went down to Chicago and went to a rehearsal and the band ran through a bunch of stuff and it sounded great. And I sat down and Billy played me a bunch of things. And the stuff that he wrote in the interim included "Disarm" and "Today"—some of the key tracks. And I think he just knew "This has got to just be an amazing record." And I knew it too, and the reason we chose Atlanta was to get away from everything. They didn't want to record in Chicago. We didn't want to go to New York or L.A. We wanted to go to a place where we could be left to our own devices. But even there people kept showing up and saying "Oh man, this is going to be so good, it's going to be so good." It was driving us both a little bit crazy. Even before the thing was recorded. It really pushed us though. That was a really hard record to make. It was five months straight of recording. The first three months it was six days a week, and then we went seven days a week because we realized how much work we needed to do to get it to the point we needed to get to. That was before Pro Tools, so everything was analog, so as good as they are as players, especially Billy, it just took a long time."

You found the singer of Garbage by watching 120 Minutes. How do you think you would've found her now? "Probably surfing the internet. Going on these internet blogs, checking out bands, going, "Oh, this singer's pretty cool. Let's call up and see if they want to collaborate on something." It's a very strange story how we met Shirley. It is true they played her Angelfish video once on 120 Minutes and Steve Marker happened to be taping the song that night, and we fell in love with the way her voice was. That sort of started the whole process in motion."

Billy Bob Thornton Opens Up About His Insecurities

Billy Bob Thornton recently sat down for an interview with GQ Magazine. Here are some of the highlights:

On being allergic to eggs, wheat, dairy, and not being able to eat red meat:
“I have type AB- blood, which is the rarest blood type. It's less than 1 percent of the whole population of the world, and it means that you don't have as many digestive enzymes.” (the interviewer notes that Billy Bob weighs 135 pounds)

On when fans don't appreciate his songwriting:
“You like my band? What was I, just fucking masturbating up there? I wrote every fucking word to those songs...Sure, I'll sign your Sling Blade DVD. And you can go home and fuck missionary like a metronome and never have an original creative idea in your life.”

On the drive to create:
“You're either born with it or you're not. There aren't any people aligned with me passionately. Nobody will ever see the importance the way you see it.”

On Bad Santa 2:
“I mean, now they have fucking Bad Grandma and Bad Teacher and Bad Aunt and Uncle and everybody. People have made sure of that, that you can't shock anybody anymore. It's not just because of movies and TV. It's because of what's happening in the world. It's like, well, surely no one's ever, like, killed a bunch of rabbits with a hatchet and then ate them in front of a group of kindergartners, and you look it up and, sure enough, somebody did it.”

On critics being predisposed to hating sequels:
“ ‘Oh, my God, did you see Joe Dirt 2? It's atrocious.’ Who gives a shit? Then don't go see it. Don't write about it, you know? You take away people's right to like what they want to like by influencing people who are very easily influenced.”

On his marriage to Angelina Jolie:
“I never felt good enough for her...I'm real uncomfortable around rich and important people...I like how I am.”

Sting Talks Hearing Loss

Sting recently appeared on SiriusXM's Artist Confidential, where he had this to say, as reprinted by People:

“I’m fairly deaf. ‘What?’ is my favorite word. I tried wearing a hearing aid, but I heard more than I wanted to hear! People talk a lot of shit!”

On taking a daily walk:
“Walking has always been important to me. The binary rhythm of walking invokes narrative. 57th and 9th became this taking-stock point. You could write a play just by listening to people’s phone conversations on the street in New York. The energy of New York gave [the album] an urgency.”

On enjoying his move to New York City:
“New Yorkers treat me in an even way, like, ‘Hey, Sting! I like you, I like your music.’ Or, ‘You suck!’ They’re respectful of my privacy, but if they want to say something, they will!”

Blind Gossip Blind Item - Sad and Scared

All she wanted to do was make music. However, a bad experience with a producer changed her life for the worse.

All her problems (the drinking, the eating disorder, etc.) tie back to being abused by [a producer]. She also thinks that because [he] is bad mouthing her, some people in the industry don’t want to work with her.  I don’t know what it’s going to take to shake her out of this. She is upset that she is gaining weight. She is sad and scared all the time. She wants to just concentrate on music, but she is finding it hard to hold it together. I think she needs to go to rehab, not just for the drinking, but to get over all the emotional stuff.

Charlize Theron Talks Aging

Charlize Theron recently sat down for an interview with Vanity Fair Italy; here's what she had to say, as reprinted by E! News:

"I don't agree with that [notion,] and I'm not happy to hear people talking like that about Hollywood. Now that I'm 41, I work much more than 20 years ago, and I enjoy it even more. And all the women I know say the same thing, so it's time to stop this clichรฉ."

On aging:
"How could I be afraid of something so natural? Aging is part of our life, we can't avoid that. And a part of me is really grateful for all the things that have happened since I started aging, now I'm much wiser than 20 years ago. A wrinkle is nothing compared to that."

On Hollywood:
"Movies are just the mirror of society; the real problem is there. Hollywood's gender problem is nothing compared to the society's problem. The time has come for women to realize that the way we look outside is not the most important thing and it's not true we are worth less when we age."

Zac Posen Talks Fashion

Zac Posen recently sat down for an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, here's what he had to say:

Tell me a bit about Project Runway, it’s always fascinated me as a TV show. Would you have ever wanted to go through that process?
"I feel like I did on a bigger scale with my actual industry. I mean I think there’s something great about quick creative process and seeing that. Obviously, you don’t have the ability to perfect or reflect, which is very important to me, even though fashion is very fast-paced. I think the show's staying power is that it is about creative process."

Yeah, pure creativity which is really cool.
"Very rare on television and that’s its staying power. We are as good as the talent we get on the show. That’s what, for me, brings our performance as judges each season and fashion is incredibly competitive. I think that over the last 15 years the industry itself has become more saturated so I think as a judge the stakes get higher."

Does the show change the industry?
"I think it has been part of a change of the industry, for sure."

It was a once a very hot ticket to see those final three runway shows at Fashion Week; was it more for the gawking and being part of a culture phenomenon than it was for the actual fashion?
"For the last five years that I’ve been on it, it’s definitely fans of the show [in the audience]. If I see somebody that I think has the intangible star quality, that glowing light, then you want to help build that and support that. Sometimes I find that the designers on there are too safe."

What was your favorite movie this year?
"How about any year? I was born and raised on Singin' in the Rain. It’s in my work, it’s in me."

Hilary Duff Talks Love

Hilary Duff recently appeared on Younger co-star Nico Tortorella's podcast The Love Bomb, where she talked about love. Here's what she had to say, as reprinted by E! News:

On falling in love with Joel Madden at 16:
"I was like, 'I get it. Like, I actually get it.' It was so all encompassing. It was so intense. It was my life. It was like every minute of my day. It was pretty major."

On dating while famous:
"All of my relationships have been in the public eye. Whether people care or not, that's a different story. But enough people seem to have cared that it's talked about."

On taking a career break at 19:
"I think I feel really lucky. I made a choice when I was about 19 to stop music and to stop acting. I finished my tour and I took two years where I didn't do anything. I didn't mean for it to last that long, but I just wasn't fulfilled in any way. I was just going on stage at night and I was like, 'I don't even know what town I'm in'...It just became so repetitive, and I was like, 'Why am I working like this? I'm supporting all these people.' It was just crazy. Taking that break, I think, really helped me step back from the whole 'Hilary Duff' thing and prioritize."

On marrying Mike Comrie:
"When we were deciding to get married, I was totally down and I felt totally ready. I had already been working as an adult since I was 12 years old. So 22 doesn't seem that crazy to get married. But I never like pictured my wedding dress and all that...I don't have the judgment of tradition. If someone chooses to not live a traditional lifestyle, obviously I don't care whatsoever. But some of my choices are more like, 'I got married. I had a baby.' That was very traditional. I do think there's a sweetness to all of that. It's not necessarily realistic all the time."

On divorce:
"My parents are divorced, and my dad is recently remarried—at 71. Get it, dad! Very happily, by the way, which is awesome for him. I'm so excited for both of them. But [marriage] is not a sacred thing. I wasn't shamed because I got a divorce. It was a big step to take, and it was a lot of considering a little human, but I don't know. Lots of people in my family are still married. Actually, I don't know if anyone's divorced but me."

On the institution of marriage:
"It is a sacred thing, obviously. It's something to be taken very seriously, and I was so happy to be married. I think that I was in a very successful marriage for a long time. I never want to have any negative...I mean, that's hard to say: 'no negative feelings.' But we got together based on love and we separated in a very loving way. I can't imagine going through that process with anyone but him, and he continues to be my very good friend. That's honestly speaking from my heart. So, I think we handled it very consciously and with a lot of love. But marriage is sacred and marriage is not for everyone. Marriage is work. Marriage is really hard. Everyone's like, 'Are you going to get married again?' I'm like, 'I don't know!' All your relationships can be a success if you make it that way. Even if they don't last forever."

On monogamy:
"There we go with the tradition again. I'm kind of traditional. But I get it. I get that it's hard to be with one person. You get really comfortable. I understand boredom or not connecting after however many years of marriage or a relationship, but that's where the work comes in. I feel like I'd have a really hard time with that."

Blind Gossip Blind Item - Color Quota

This TV series is adding cast after a very successful first season. They really wanted to bring in another female child star to offset the current young female star of the show. They were debating among half a dozen girls from 10-15 who would have been great for the strange role… when an order came down from network executives.

They said that the cast is too white and they didn’t like the fact that all the ones we were doing call backs with were white. So we had to toss them and start over. In the end, we settled on a girl of color who can act. The bad news is that she is in her twenties! She is physically small, but I personally think it will be a stretch to try to convince people that she is a tween or young teen. We may have to rewrite the part.

We’re not sure if a girl in her twenties will make a good foil for the tween star of the show, either, but it seems that they have to make this strange quota thing work.

Prince Harry Stands Up For His Woman

If you weren't already in love with Prince Hot Ginge, this might put you over the edge! Since the news of his relationship with actress Meghan Markle came to light, the actress has faced a barrage of hate on the Internet. Prince Harry had the palace release an official statement; here it is in full:

"Since he was young, Prince Harry has been very aware of the warmth that has been extended to him by members of the public. He feels lucky to have so many people supporting him and knows what a fortunate and privileged life he leads.

He is also aware that there is significant curiosity about his private life. He has never been comfortable with this, but he has tried to develop a thick skin about the level of media interest that comes with it. He has rarely taken formal action on the very regular publication of fictional stories that are written about him and he has worked hard to develop a professional relationship with the media, focused on his work and the issues he cares about.

But the past week has seen a line crossed. His girlfriend, Meghan Markle, has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment. Some of this has been very public - the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments. Some of it has been hidden from the public - the nightly legal battles to keep defamatory stories out of papers; her mother having to struggle past photographers in order to get to her front door; the attempts of reporters and photographers to gain illegal entry to her home and the calls to police that followed; the substantial bribes offered by papers to her ex-boyfriend; the bombardment of nearly every friend, co-worker, and loved one in her life.

Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her. It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm. He knows commentators will say this is ‘the price she has to pay’ and that ‘this is all part of the game’. He strongly disagrees. This is not a game - it is her life and his.

He has asked for this statement to be issued in the hopes that those in the press who have been driving this story can pause and reflect before any further damage is done. He knows that it is unusual to issue a statement like this, but hopes that fair-minded people will understand why he has felt it necessary to speak publicly."

Election 2016 - The Hangover

Well, that really just happened. America has elected Donald Trump our next president. Like many of you, I wake up this morning feeling profound disbelief, sadness, and disappointment that so many people voted for hatred. Feel free to decompress here all day.

Election Night 2016

Holy shitballs, it's here!

If you don't like politics, don't sit on this post; it's not for the faint of heart.

Keep the discourse civil. There have been horrible things said this election season; don't reprint something hate speech-adjacent to show an example of something terrible that someone said - it will get taken down. We keep it a little lighter around here.

XOXO,
Outtie

Blind Gossip Blind Item - Mascara Tears

Remember that popular TV show from a decade ago with all those beautiful people living beautiful lives in a beautiful place?

Well, truth and time tells all. It wasn’t really so much of a reality show as it was a carefully choreographed series of scripted dramas. So perhaps you won’t be shocked when we tell you what this one cast mate said when she wasn’t invited to her former costar’s wedding.

"She doesn’t care about [Bride]. I asked her if she was hurt she didn’t get a wedding invite, and she was like, “You’re kidding me, right? I haven’t talked to her in years. I really don’t give a shit.”"

Guess this means that she’s not shedding little mascara tears of happiness for her former friend!

The Gossip Life Blind Item - Take Me Back

When chocolates and flowers aren't enough, you only have words...

Our former A-list television star tried to return to the A-list television show they were once on by speaking with the showrunner and attempting to iron our the issues between them, but the stubborn showrunner adamantly refused.

'It was a polite declination,' says my source, 'but it was an adamant no. It was a shame. It would've been nice for [name omitted] to return.'

So, tell me, Gossipers:

Who is our former star that wants to come back?

Jennifer Aniston Looks Ahead

Jennifer Aniston recently sat down for an interview with Marie Claire. Here's what she had to say:

On why she decided to write her Huffington Post op-ed:
"My marital status has been shamed; my divorce status was shamed; my lack of a mate had been shamed; my nipples have been shamed. It's like, Why are we only looking at women through this particular lens of picking us apart? Why are we listening to it? I just thought: I have worked too hard in this life and this career to be whittled down to a sad, childless human."

On what's next for her:
"This is a time when I'm not completely sure what I'm doing. I'm at this sort of crossroads trying to figure out what inspires me deep in my core. What used to make me tick is not necessarily making me tick any- more ... The most challenging thing right now is trying to find what it is that makes my heart sing."

On her husband Justin Theroux:
"Why is he the right person for me? All I know is that I feel completely seen, and adored, in no matter what state. There's no part of me that I don't feel comfortable showing, exposing. And it brings forth the best part of myself, because I care about him so much. And he's such a good person. It hurts me to think of anything hurting him."

On how she picks her acting roles:
"You have to be so madly in love with it and think, I will be so upset if I don't go and play this person...Especially these days, with Justin in Melbourne. It has to be worth it."

Hollywood Street King Blind Item - Concocting a Scheme

Today’s blind item is a married couple said to secretly be concocting a scheme as part of a pub play over his product launch of a new overpriced line of sneakers. Don’t believe me? Just ask porn star Flash Brown. Know why? Word in the streets is our mystery man’s people “contacted Flash Brown with an offer to play _____ in a sex tape.”

“They’re planning to release the porn in snippets to trick people into thinking that its them.”

Though we can’t say for sure the female of our deceptive duo reached out to double as our Mrs. blind item, sources say “they’ve already secured someone to play her on the set of the sex tape production.”

Dig the Drop:

“They even opened their own porn company for this project. He’ll release his new ____’s when the fake sex tape drops.”

Now, can you guess the rapper and the porn star I’m talking about?

Drew Barrymore Talks Not Spoiling Her Kids

Drew Barrymore recently sat down for an interview with People, where she talked about holiday gifting traditions for daughters Olive, 4, and Frankie, 2 1/2. Here's what she had to say:

“Instead of buying them toys, because I’m obviously cautious and don’t want to spoil them, I buy them lots of arts and crafts. They’re more inclined to share, it’s more communal, they make stuff. And I think it’s very perspective-appropriate, because they’re making things. A made thing is the best gift always.”

On holiday gifting in general:
“I think giving gifts that feel personalized is really the key, not making it feel like that last minute mad dash when you’re just grabbing something to get something for people. When you put their name on it, or put a picture on it, or make it personal, you know that person thought of you early. And it really means a lot.”

On Christmas trees:
“[I’ll get one] right when they’re everywhere and in your face that you need to get your tree. I’m not organized about it. I see them on the street and am like, ‘You gotta get a tree.' For me when I saw Christmas ornaments as a kid, it immediately brought me back to a certain — it was like a heightened senses moment. That clichรฉ brown box in the garage that says with Sharpie ‘Christmas ornaments.'”

Lindsay Lohan Needs New Representation

Page Six reports that Lindsay Lohan has parted ways with publicist Hunter Frederick after two years. A source says, “You never know what Lindsay you’re going to get. One second she’s in a great mood and wanting to get things back together, and the next you can’t say anything to make her happy. She’s going to have a really hard time finding a new publicist not only because she’s radioactive and no one wants to represent her, but the monthly retainer alone would render her bankrupt.”

Well, it looks like she found some way to pay, because her new manager Scott Carlsen released the following statement:  “Hunter was never working with Lindsay Lohan there was no financial or contractual relationship and this whole story is incorrect. He is shamelessly trying to get publicity for himself while throwing a so-called ‘client’ under the bus. Obviously not much of a PR agent.”
