What's going on in your world today?

Blind Gossip Blind Item - Yacht Girl Running Wild

This young daughter of a music legend is already running wild on the yacht circuit!

Given the problems her famous sibling had at her age (drugs, alcohol, etc.) you would think that her parents would take extra precautions to keep this one safe.

Nope! Even though she is still underage, her parents let her do whatever she wants, whenever she wants. Because allowing a child to party all night long… thousands of miles away… with rich 40- and 50-year-old men… and lots of drugs… is a perfectly reasonable thing to do. And, yes, she is doing all of the above.

Which Oscar-nominated actor is a big fan of a sexual practice known as “dry-socketing”? He likes his ladies good and dry down there for added friction. His preferred method of… ahem, “dehumidifying” his lady friends is by plopping a sock on the end of his chap and sending it up there a few times before commencing properly.

Zoe Saldana Reveals She Has Hashimoto's Thyroiditis

Zoe Saldana recently sat down for an interview with Net-a-Porter's The Edit, where she reveals that she has been diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. Here's what she had to say:

On being diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis:
“Your body doesn’t have the energy it needs to filter toxins, causing it to believe that it has an infection, so it’s always inflamed. You create antibodies that attack your glands, so you have to eat clean. (She is now gluten and dairy-free). I had a great time in my twenties. Then your doctor says you’re losing calcium in your bones. What the fuck is that?! I would hear those conversations with my mom and grandma, thinking I’d never get there. I’m going to live forever! But all of a sudden it hits you. I shit you not, it’s from night to day.”

On being a Gemini:
“My family makes fun of me because there is more than one person in here, and they are like oil and vinegar. One is super-easy, chilled; the other one is so rigid that even the temperature of my water needs to be perfect.”

On growing up in the Dominican Republic (her family moved there from New York when she was 10):
“I know what it’s like to grow up with fast food and MTV, then all of a sudden you’re in a place where the power goes out every three hours and you’re doing your homework by candlelight. We moved to a small community: one culture, one religious belief, one opinion about women. Latinos are traditionalists at heart, and super-machistas. Even though the women are the matriarchs, it’s still a man’s world.”

On getting equality for women in Hollywood:
“The high road is
no longer silent,” she instructs. “The high road is speaking up and saying, ‘You’re a dick! What you are doing is unfair. I’m not asking you to idolize me, I’m asking you to pay me equally, because you always come to me whenever you need me for a press tour!’ The responsibility can’t only fall on women in the public eye. The audience have the power. They are the ones buying the tickets to all these man-made movies. There are films being made by female directors, by female writers, with lead female roles, but women are not going to those movies. We’re going with our boyfriends to hold their fucking hands to go see a movie that we couldn’t care less about! As women in positions of power, we have to use it to help other women. I got used to being the only girl in the room. Look at The Losers, look at Star Trek... It’s lonely! I couldn’t care less about male-driven stories and war movies, not because I’m not an intellectual individual, but because I want to know what’s happening to a woman.”

On husband Marco Perego:
“We are never apart for more than a week. We don’t want distance to come between us because we are creatures of habit. Even when we fight, the goal is to never go to sleep angry. And to practice love; to work just as much at home as we do outside. Love is a lot of work. But it’s work that you should take pleasure in doing.”

Christie Brinkley No Longer Cares What You Think of Her

Christie Brinkley recently sat down for an interview with Page Six, where she reflected on how she feels about public perception have changed over the years. Here's what she had to say:

“Until I turned 50 . . . my weight kind of would go up and down with kids and having babies . . . then I would go to put on a bathing suit, and I’d go, ‘Oh gosh, I don’t look anything like my Sports Illustrated picture. People are going to go, oh see, I told you it’s all airbrushing.’ When I turned 50 . . . I felt like I had a license to say, ‘Cut me some slack. It doesn’t really matter.’ Now, at 62, I just really want to be healthy. I want to feel good. I want to just not be so self-conscious . . . like if my legs are a little flabbier or my upper arms dangle a little bit . . . I’m doing the best I can.”

Matt Damon Did a Reddit AMA

Wondering why you're hearing so much about Matt Damon lately? It's because the new Jason Bourne movie is coming out soon! He recently sat down with Reddit to do an Ask Me Anything. Here are some of the highlights:

Are there any skills or trades that you learned while preparing for your early roles that you can still do well today?
"That's a great question. The thing about acting is often time what happens is you end up being a jack of all trades and a master of none. So I've had to learn things for the Bourne films for instance, like being upside down underwater in a car which required me to learn. I went to a swimming pool in Berlin everyday after work and practiced being at the bottom with a scuba tank, getting my air taken away, and tying shoes and doing small menial activities without my air in order to be comfortable underwater so I could shoot that scene. I didn't walk away being certified as a scuba diver which would probably be a better use of my time, but I walked away being able to be in a car underwater and perform the scene I needed to performed, so it's an odd set of skills you end up learning. Though I did for the Bourne movies start boxing and I never did that before, I was 29 and I fell in love with doing it. I never did it as a sport. I wouldn't put me as a ring against anyone. I'm an excellent movie fighter, probably wouldn't be in a real fight."

What's the most challenging role you've ever had?
"I think the most challenging role that I've ever had, was when I did Courage Under Fire and I had to lose all the weight that I lost on my own, that was the most physically challenging did I've ever had to do in my life. I weigh probably 190 pounds right now, and I weighed 139 in that movie, and that is not a natural weight for me and not a happy weight for me even when I was 25. So you know to do that I had to run about 13 miles a day which wasn't even the hard part. The hard part was the diet, all I ate was chicken breast. It's not like I had a chef or anything, I just made it up and did what I thought I had to do. I just made it up and that was incredibly challenging."

What was your first thought when told about your "involvement" in Team America??
"Thank you! I was always kind of bewildered by Team America, I think because it's hard for us to understand what our images are in public, I think we're not good judges of that, and when I saw myself on screen just only able to say my own name and not really that well, I kind of wondered "Wow, is that how people perceive me?" At that point I just kind of was like, I'm a screenwriter and an actor, and like really? I can barely say my own name? So I was always bewildered by that, and I never talked to Trey and Matt about that. And Incidentally, I believe those two are geniuses, and I don't use that word lightly. I think they are absolute geniuses, and what they've done is awesome and I'm a big fan of theirs, but I never quite understood that one. But I will say this. Those of us who were parodied in that video were parodied because we were against the Iraq war, and we went on the record against that war, and so history is on my side not theirs."

Would you ever consider teaming up with Ben Affleck again to write an original screenplay?
"Good Will Hunting obviously is the most influential movie in my life, and in Ben's life, and bringing it to the screen kind of dominated our 20s. It took 5 years to get it from the time we started to the time it came out, it took 5 years. So I would love to write another script with Ben; I love Ben, I love his work, he's been my buddy for 35 years. The big issue is time for us. We have a company together so we work on a lot of projects together, but to try to carve out the time is really tough. I mean we both have a whole mess of kids now, and these other days jobs. He's directing all the time and I'm off working with these other directors. The thing about Good Will Hunting is that we were unemployed and we weren't writing the script on a deadline either. Nobody was expecting it, so we were just these two idiots in our basement writing this thing, and now we have all of these pressures of the lives grownups have. So I would never say never because I would absolutely love to write with Ben again, and I'd love to collaborate with him on anything, he's brilliant. I'd love to be in one of his movies that he directs. The problem there is that he just keeps giving himself the best roles, so until he stops doing that and maybe just directs, none of us can really work with him."

Who would win a battle to death, you or Ben Affleck?
"I think the answer to that is clear and I'll let you fill in the blanks."

What is the best advice you've been given?
"I think the best advice I was given--well, I'd say two things. When I was younger, everybody told me not to be an actor, and to this day I say that to people who come up to me and say "I'm thinking of going into acting, what do you think?" I say "Absolutely not, it's a terrible idea, don't do it." because that's what everybody said to me, and I think that if you're gonna make it in this business that is so full of rejection and hardship, you need to believe in yourself despite what everybody you love and trust tells you. And it's a very personal journey, so that was very helpful. I think, you know, the advice to stay away from this career was really helpful in my own understanding that it was that important that I pursue it. The other advice that I would say, my high school acting teacher Gerry Speca had a huge influence on me and Ben and Casey. Five words he said "Just do your work, kid." and he repeated that so many times to me "Just do your work, kid." and that is kind of what I can always retreat to. That's my touchstone if, when in doubt, just focus on my work. If everything on the movie is going wrong, alright, I'll make sure that my work is tight and go from there. And that's a great place to base from, and that's a good foundation."

Shahs of Sunset's GG Talks RA

Golnesa Gharachedaghi, 35, aka GG from Shahs of Sunset, recently sat down for an interview with People to talk about Rheumatoid Arthritis. Here's what she had to say:

"It's very confusing when you've never heard of a disease before and all of a sudden you're supposed to in one second accept that you have it. I can't lift things the way a 35-year-old should be lifting things. I can't hold my phone for long periods of times without my hands going numb or shaking. I can't sit in the car for too long. You're tired all the time. It doesn't matter how much you sleep – you're always tired."

On her excessive drinking:
"I wasn't mentally ready for [the diagnosis]. I turned to the bottle for pain and mental management. I was drinking a lot. And when I say 'a lot,' I mean I was literally waking up in the morning and downing a bottle of vodka ... I just wanted to numb out. I would just drink and drink until I couldn't feel my body. Because you know, when we drink, it's like we can do anything – we're invincible. So I was dancing on tables and then I would wake up the next day and not be able to walk for the whole day. But those moments felt so good to me when I was in them that the following day didn't matter. I just wanted to feel that numbness again. It became obvious that it was a problem. I just wanted to be able to cope without using alcohol."

On going to rehab, which she completed 5 weeks agp:
"The spiritual retreat really changed me. You're out in the wilderness, you just meditate from morning 'til night, you do spiritual counseling, you do a lot of self-work. It's all about cleansing the liver and the soul. I'm learning different ways of living. It's a different lifestyle. It's been an amazing transition for me."

On starting chemo for her RA:
"Physically, it's more okay than I thought it was going to be. I have a lot of weave in my hair. I try not to pay attention to what's falling out – I'll just get more weave put in."

On her Shahs castmates having doubts about her diagnosis:
"I should be grateful to these people. They gave more attention to RA! Now more people know what RA is, they're Googling it. Like, wow, this disease that so many people have never heard of is now getting so much attention. That's amazing."

On why they doubted her:
"This disease is something they've known from day one that I've had, and all of a sudden, the more and more attention I was getting – that's where it started. They wanted their storyline to jump in on it. The issue was – and is an ongoing pattern season after season – whenever Reza [Farahan] goes against someone, he takes all his puppets along with him. So right now, because the mustache is against me, the others kind of wag their tails, like bitches."

On her new fighting style:
"I mean, don't get me wrong – that fire is still inside of me, and the fire will definitely show up when it needs to, but let's just say I've buried the knives. If a situation ever occurs, I know now how to use my words instead of my fists."

"What is going to happen with America? That is a good question that I don't have an immediate answer to, only that I am worried. I think we've lost civility. I think we've lost a certain degree of passion. I think passion unfortunately is directed into negative areas. I think it would be nice if we could switch back to positive areas. There's a lot to be positive about. We're very lucky to be in this country considering where the world is."

Outtie Announcement on Guest Comments

Dear Anarchists,

Quick update that won't affect most of you: Until now, guest comments have been allowed on Anarchy, but Disqus is supposed to send them to moderation before posting to the site. Unfortunately, a guest comment was not sent to moderation this week and posted right to the site and had to be taken down. I would have preferred that it never have gone up in the first place.

This community and the site's content is largely driven by you, the commenters. I know that you appreciate that Anarchy is kept a nice, safe space, so in the interest of maintaining that, guest comments will no longer be allowed. If you don't already have a Disqus account, now's the time to sign up for one! It might seem annoying to sign up for yet another site, but it's not that bad. Pro tip: create a separate email address just for Disqus, and make sure you "verify" the address (click through on the enrollment email that Disqus sends you). It makes commenting much easier that way!

Thank you for your understanding!

Producer Jack Douglas Talks John Lennon

Rock Producer Jack Douglas recently sat down for an interview with Gothamist, where he talked about working with John Lennon. Here are some highlights:

So there was this four or five year period where John was basically off the radar. How did he approach you about wanting to record again?
"Listen, the way he approached the whole thing was so strange. I got a phone call one day and it was so mysterious. [He said] if I’m interested in doing something extra special, show up at 30th Street. There was a pier where sea planes used to land and I showed up and met a sea plane at noon. Now, how could you resist that? [I had] no idea what it was for.

So I went there, and a sea plane landed, and I got in it, and we flew over to Cold Spring Harbor and pulled up to this mansion, the boat pulled right up to the beach. [Yoko's ex-husband Ichiyanagi] Toshi came out and said, “Come this way, Yoko is waiting for you.” And I said, “Yoko?” I walked up there, Yoko was there, “Oh Jack, it’s so great to see you. What I tell you right now, you can’t ever tell anyone.” “Okay. Fine. My lips are sealed. What is it?” “John wants to do a record, he wants you to produce it. But you can’t tell anyone about it, he’s in Bermuda right now. He’s going to call and talk to you in a few minutes.”"

This sounds very secretive.
"“Okay.” So the phone rang and John said, “You know, I want to do a record but I don’t know if I want to do a record. I have some material, I’ve been writing for a while, writing down here in Bermuda” and of course he had a near-death experience sailing in a storm down there, which I think changed his perspective completely. Because almost all of those songs were written in Bermuda."

So it was like one creative burst. Was this 1979?
"Yeah, ’79. And so I agreed that I would listen to the stuff. And he said, “Yoko has it” and she handed me an envelope that said, “For Jack’s ears only.” And I took it home and he called me at home the next day and asked, “What do you think?” And my honest opinion was that they were very primitive, a whole bunch of cassettes, there was narration in it, he talked me through it. The songs all began with an explanation, a lot of it funny, and all of them ended with, “What a piece of crap. I’m going to give it to Ringo for his solo album.”"

Were these all songs that ended up being on the album?
"No, there were still a few more. And there was so much on that tape that I didn’t put on the album. But the Beatles had completed "Real Love" many years later, from that cassette. They built off of that cassette. Actually, I had the original so they built that off of a copy that maybe Yoko had."

Were there any songs from that tape that immediately hit you?
"Oh yes, there were so many. So many. There was so much material on that tape. Two cassettes."

Do you still have that tape?
"Yes."

Did you ever digitize it?
"Yes. But they’ll never be—it’s property of Yoko. Period. It’s her property. So anyway, most of it’s been released."

Everyone was getting along great during those later records.
"Yeah, and John knew that Yoko was onto something with that one. Especially with that spoken word. And the whole feel of it was so different that she was going to have a hit. It was nominated for a Grammy. But we actually finished that song and that last night he…I would go to my session afterward, a session at nine or ten at night, and he…we were planning on mastering in the morning. And some asshole went and shot him when he got home."

That was that night?
"Yeah, I said, “Goodnight, see you in the morning” at Sterling, the mastering studio. And a few minutes later I get a phone call, he’s been shot. I couldn’t believe it. I went up to Roosevelt Hospital, spent the night there. But he was already gone. They didn’t announce it until 6 in the morning."

So you were one of the last people to spend time with him.
"Yeah. It was me, Yoko and the driver. That’s it."

Mila Kunis Talks Friends With Benefits Past With Ashton Kutcher

Mila Kunis has been making the rounds to promote her new movie Bad Moms. She recently appeared on the Howard Stern Show; here's what she had to say:

On when Mila and Ashton first met on the set of That 70s Show, where they played girlfriend and boyfriend onscreen:
"I'm 14, he's 19. I don't know who it's weirder for. I never looked at him as somebody that was good looking, I never looked at him as somebody that wasn't."

On when sparks finally flew in 2011 at an awards show, right after Mila broke up with Macaulay Culking and Ashton's marriage to Demi Moore had just ended:
"So I see this guy and I see his back and he's really tall. And then he just turns around and it was literally like if we were in a movie, the music would start playing…I think that he, for the first time ever, took my breath away...I was like fuck, he's good looking."

On going to a house party at Ashton's house soon after the awards show:
"Long story short, I didn't leave until the next morning. [It was the] the first time I ever slept over while I was single...We started dating with the idea we both were never going to get married...I think we both had to go through a lot in our lives to become the people that we were because we would never be together based on the people that we used to be, ever."

Director Drake Doremus Talks Equals and Rom Coms

Director Drake Doremus recently sat down for an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in anticipation of the release of his film Equals, starring Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult. Here's what he had to say:

What was the inspiration for Equals?
I had this basic concept: As we evolve away from human contact through social media and online dating, is love necessary for human being to function and progress as a race?

How did you go about casting the film?
I kidnapped them and forced them to do the movie. They are actually not onscreen under their own will. [Laughs] I had actually met Nick through mutual friends and immediately wanted to find something for him. You know, you meet actors through generals and you never end up doing anything together and Nick was the first exception to this. When we started to build the character of Silas, I told [screenwriter] Nathan [Parker] that he was this guy. We wrote the part for him.

Equals and Yorgos Lanthimos' The Lobster, which are both in theaters now after having made the festival rounds, both center on relationships in oppressive future societies that lack emotion. Why do you think we are seeing films like these now?
I think it is a topic that is of concern for some people, I know it is for me. I can see myself making more films that focus on human beings and how we date and find each other and fall in love and how constant the turnover is, like how you can just move and keep swiping. It's just crazy to think about how quickly it is all changing. Like in five, six years what kind of algorithms will humans have come up with to try and define how you find something.

What are you reading right now?
I am reading a lot of self-help books. No, just kidding. [Laughs] I am always reading love stories.

Are you a fan of rom-coms?
Sometimes, yeah. I love Four Weddings and a Funeral and When Harry Met Sally. I'll watch [When Harry Met Sally] on any plane because it's the perfect amount of — my soul gets filled up but it's also light so I can sit back and relax and eat my loaf of bread on the plane to wherever I am going.

Macaulay Culkin Says No to Drugs

Macaulay Culkin recently sat down for an interview with The Guardian, where he addressed those heroin rumours that were floating around about him a few years back. Here's what he had to say:

On the heroin rumours in the wake of his breakup with Mila Kunis, and whether or not people were right to be worried:
“Not necessarily. Of course, when silly stuff is going on – but no, I was not pounding six grand of heroin every month or whatever. The thing that bugged me was tabloids wrapping it all in this weird guise of concern. No, you’re trying to shift papers.”

On why he thinks people are still fascinated by him:
“I have no idea. I was thinking about this the other day – I’d crossed the wrong street, picked up a tail, suddenly there’s a crush of 20 paparazzi. Then people with cameraphones get involved. I don’t think I’m worthy of that...It’s been like that my whole adult life. You take on a prey-like attitude, always scanning the horizon. It’s strange on dates, as it looks like you’re not paying attention. But I’ve stopped trying to think of myself in the third person, because that’s just gonna drive me nuts.”

On his philosophy:
"I try to figure out what makes me happy – and not in a superficial way. I keep my soul fit...I know enough to know I don’t know. I was raised Catholic, so there’s a lot of guilt. We’re born with original sin. Since I was told that, I’ve been trying to come up with even more original sins, that’ll really blow my priest away at confession. Like, here’s one you haven’t heard – it involves a pitching wedge, a donkey and a bucket of ice...Actually, I’m very much at peace lately. I can debate with people, and my heart rate never changes. If you want to get into an argument with an artist, ask them what art is. If you want to make an actor feel uncomfortable, ask them what they’re doing next.”

On Politics:
“I have leanings, but I’m the definition of a disenfranchised voter – I think the system is ugly. This whole Trump thing is amazing. Discussing politics is the quickest way to alienate people, so I don’t wanna go into it.”

On Trump:
"He’s like the Candyman, we have to stop saying his name.”
