Tom Whedon Has Passed Away

Emmy-winning writer and producer Tom Whedon passed away on Thursday at the age of 83. He may be best remembered as a writer/producer of The Golden Girls. Whedon is survived by sons Joss, Zach, Jed, Samuel, and Matthew Whedon. Read his full obituary at Deadline.

John Travolta's Hotel Rider

Page Six has gotten a hold of John Travolta's hotel rider. Here are some of the highlights:

- a male masseur

-aluminum foil and dark curtains to black out all windows, so that no one can see what he's doing with the male masseur

-he brings his own sheets

-he requires his hotel room to be empty for a full 24 hours before he stays there, because he does not want anyone else's scent in the room (aside from the musk of the male masseur, naturally)

It's not mentioned by Page Six, but I'm assuming a wig stand, stash of candy bars, and a jetted tub are also on the list.

The World's Most Romantic Post

Morning!! Here's a sneak peek of the @FreedomOfAnimals campaign for the new collection! Morgan and I had some incredible meetings talking about FOA and sustainability. What I love most about these bags is they truly do address so many of our current issues that involve the harmful impact that the fashion industry has on our planet. If you're an environmentalist you'll appreciate how important it is to Morgan and I to produce in the U.S. reducing our carbon footprint by using less fuel to transport, if you are a human rights advocate you'll appreciate the ethical factory we use to manufacture, if you're an animal lover you'll appreciate the non-leather/canvas alternatives and if you're a fashion lover you'll appreciate our desire to create a sustainable option on the market. Thank you for the love and support!!!!!!!! We can't wait for you to see the final images!!! Blind Gossip Blind Item - Meet My Partner

This pretty actress is married to another celebrity. She is constantly accompanied by another woman when she travels. No, it’s not her personal assistant. She introduced the woman as her “partner” to a couple of people, and when they looked at her quizzically, she quickly corrected herself and said “business partner.” Then she added, “Oh, and she’s also my [occupation] and my [occupation].” Right. She should have stopped after the first description.

Chris Hemsworth Talks Life In Australia

Chris Hemsworth recently sat down for an interview with Modern Luxury Magazine, where he talked about raising his family in Australia. The magazine quotes him as follows:

"I love what I do as an actor, but when you are surrounded by it constantly, it becomes a bit suffocating. It's nice to have conversations with people and be a part of a community that doesn't live and breathe that world. We were living shoulder to shoulder in the suburbs and thought that's not how we want our kids to grow up. Moving to a kind of farm setup back here on the coast in Australia has been the best thing...It's no longer all about me, which is quite refreshing. Once the kids arrived, I was like, 'Wow, this is what life is about.'"

Simon Cowell Talks Career Highs and Lows

Simon Cowell recently sat down for an interview with Billboard Magazine, where he reflected back on some of his projects. The magazine quotes him as follows:

On joining America's Got Talent as a Judge:
“There’s obviously way too many reality shows on TV, and a lot of them won’t last. As with anything, if you don’t listen to the viewers, you’re dead. As soon as our shows go on the air, we’re hit with a barrage of information from social media. You think I’m honest? Christ almighty, are they honest on social media. And I like that. I like to do things that make a lot of noise...Here’s why I’m not depressed: Our only competition now is one show. Everything else is gone.”

On The Voice:
“As much as I sulked about it -- I still do, actually -- you have to understand why it worked. The Voice feels very modern. I’ve never been a fan of artists judging artists, but the panel works so well. They have perfect chemistry, as we did on Idol when it started...I get irritated if I watch it. It’s like going ’round to someone else’s house and swimming in their pool. I’d rather swim in mine.”

On the breakup of One Direction:
“Whenever I was with them, we talked about it, and I couldn’t argue with them. They had achieved so much in a short period of time, and I didn’t want them to get jaded. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned to trust people more, particularly artists. They’ll decide when they want to come back together. I don’t know if it’s a hiatus or a breakup, to be honest. In a weird way, I don’t want to know. I don’t think they’ve had enough time to experience what it’s like not being in the group to really answer that.”

On learning to do baby talk to son Eric:
“I kept saying to Lauren, ‘I don’t think he likes me.’ I wasn’t getting a reaction. Then one day, it clicked.”

Tom Hiddelston Talks Hank Williams

Tom Hiddelston portrays Hank Williams in his upcoming movie I Saw the Light. He recently sat down for an interview with The Hollywood Reporter to talk about the role. Here's what he has to say:

What was your audition for I Saw The Light like?
"Marc was always adamant that he wanted to cast an actor who could sing, not a singer who could act. He kept talking about the contradiction between [Williams’] charisma and his vulnerability.  And then, not secondary to that, I had to get up there and sing those songs. I was more nervous about it than he was. He was very confident that I could pull it off. He’d seen that I had an ear for dialect and accents, so he wasn’t worried about that.

It all came to a head on Easter weekend in Toronto while I was making Crimson Peak in 2014. Rodney Crowell was on his way from Nashville to New York for a family wedding and he stopped in Toronto and we all had this pow wow at about 11 o clock in the morning on Easter Saturday. I brought a guitar and Rodney had brought a guitar and we were sitting there over scrambled eggs having a conversation putting off the inevitable (laughs). Eventually Marc went to the bathroom and I said to Rodney,  “I need for you to tell me if I can do this or not.” By the time Marc comes back, we are digging our heels into “Long Gone Lonesome Blues.” We spent the next eight or nine hours in that hotel room singing.  At the end that day, I was giddy. I was so excited because Rodney had given me a key into the music and I felt like it was going to be a big challenge, but a challenge that I could take on."

You’re a baritone. How did you become a tenor like Hank? When did it finally click in?
"It didn’t happen quickly and it wasn’t easy and sometimes we did so many takes I would go mad.  We’d sit in his studio and I would do 56 takes of “Lovesick Blues.”  There was a day where I was struggling with “Lovesick” and I couldn’t get the clarity of the sound in the middle of the song. That yodel is very technical.  I had been singing for so long and my voice was so warm, I felt like I had sufficient breath and control over it that I’d never had.  After a certain point, my lungs opened up and my chest opened up and it felt like I was in clear  water.  I could tell because Rodney turned around from the sound desk with a light in his eyes and I said, “Did you hear that?” and he said, “Yes, I heard it!” It was like suddenly just knowing how to ride a bicycle or drive a car. I knew I was in a different zone and I could always get back to that zone. Something happened and it was a combination of technical practice and control, but also spiritual freedom."

I Saw The Light questions how an artist deals with his artistry in a commercial world. Ultimately it destroys Hank. Was there anything that you took from that as an actor?
"I think he wrestled with that tension between his artistic sensibility and the commercial demand. He really found that uncomfortable because those songs just poured out of him and they were so authentic.  The demand of the Opry, I guess, on him and becoming a hit maker and becoming a professional, he couldn’t handle it. I think that’s what separates professionals from amateurs. If you’re a professional performer, sometimes you’re looked upon to deliver something you don’t feel like doing and you have to do it because there’s a paying audience out there. Have I felt that? Absolutely. The obligation is on you to galvanize your energy to deliver something to people and some days you don’t feel like it,  but that’s what being a professional is all about. The show must go on. But Hank didn’t like that."

SAG President Ken Howard Has Died

Actor and current SAG president Ken Howard passed away on Wednesday at the age of 71. Howard's career spanned 47 years, and he is fondly remembered as the star of The White Shadow. He is survived by his wife Linda Fetters Howard. Read his full obituary at The New York Times.

This is the first time that a SAG president has passed away while in office. Gabrielle Carteris, who you probably remember as Andrea Zuckerman on 90210, was the Executive Vice President of the Screen Actors Guild. She will take over as acting president until the next national board meeting on April 9-10, when the board will elect a president to serve out the duration of Howard's term, which was to last until October 2017. Carteris herself could be elected to serve out Howard's term as president, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Disqus Fixed (Hopefully)

Dear Anarchists,

Word on the street is that Disqus has been messed up on all Blogger sites because Blogger directs people to country-specific sites (e.g. if you're in Canada, the web address ends with ".ca" instead of ".com", so you only see comments from other people that commented on ".ca" and none from people that commented on ".com"). I don't know why this is just becoming an issue between the two platforms, because that change happened back in 2015, but whatevs. I added the patch that forces everyone onto the ".com" site, regardless of what country you're posting from.

In theory, that will fix the comment problem going forward (older threads might still be buggy). If you comment tomorrow on one of the new posts and it doesn't show, or if you are unable to view any comments for one of tomorrow's posts, shoot me an email at AnarchyGossip@gmail.com and I will investigate further. But I'm cautiously optimistic that the problem is solved.

Have a great night, Anarchists!

Blind Gossip Blind Item - Watching Her Body Parts

This famous athlete tends to date the same type of woman over and over again.

That’s why it is so odd that he is dating a woman who doesn’t fit the mold.

She isn’t a model, pop star or actress. She is average looking. She is a college graduate. She is very rich after having divorced a very rich guy.

Despite her wealth, friends don’t think it will last. However, they are watching her body for one very significant sign.

"He likes them slim and athletic, but they have to have breasts. He talked [at  least two of his famous exes] into getting implants when he dated them. The day this one gets breast implants will be the day you know it’s serious!"

Temporary Comment Patch

Disqus and Blogger aren't getting along right now. Shoutout to everyone in the Independent UK Blind Item post that came up with a workaround -

If blogger redirects you to a country-specific site (eg .ca for Canada instead of .com), type the following in your address bar to access Anarchy:
http://www.anarchygossip.blogspot.com/ncr

This will ensure that you are accessing the same site everyone else is seeing.
For some reason, Disqus started segregating the comments for each country-specific URL (so if you're in Canada and getting redirected to the .ca site instead of the .com site, you are only seeing the comments of other people thag commented on the .ca site, and none of the ones from .com).

Will update the HTML code on the site tonight with a patch that should stop this from happening.

Thanks for hanging in there until the comments are working properly again; I know how annoying it is.

The Gossip Life Blind Item - Meta Blind Item

This is a meta blind item, but I think it’s worthy of your attention.

As some of you may know, the people involved in The Gossip Life are actually in the journalism / show business industry, mostly UK / LA-based. We’re not outsiders primarily relying on inside sources (although like every good journalist we do have our sources) and this has given an insight into how the industry is reacting to us.

At first, we were dismissed as another ‘fake gossip site’ but as our blind items broke in the mainstream press as news stories we gained more and more credibility, and more and more enemies… HBO, for example, is believed to hate us for revealing the shit storm that is Westworld, and I hear blames us for ‘starting off an investigation by one of the trades that led to a huge article.’

Several little bratty actresses have been known to complain about us, too, but there’s one specific A-list producer that really despises us, and has been working very hard on trying to discover our real identities and ‘exactly who we work for’.

We thought we’d take this opportunity just to say ‘Hi!’ to them. It shouldn’t be too hard to guess when you look at our past revealed items.

Any guesses on who the A-list producer is?

RuPaul Gives Great Interview

RuPaul recently sat down for an interview with Vulture. The whole thing is worth a read, but here are some of the highlights:

Would you say that drag saved your life?
"It actually didn't save my life, it gave me a life. I don't think there is a life in the mundane 9-to-5 hypocrisy. That's not living. That's just part of the Matrix. And drag is punk rock, because it is not part of the Matrix. It is not following any rules of societal standards. Boy, girl, black, white, Catholic, Jew, Muslim. It's none of that. We shape-shift. We can do whatever we want."

Do you feel that drag can never be mainstream?
"It will never be mainstream. It's the antithesis of mainstream. And listen, what you're witnessing with drag is the most mainstream it will get. But it will never be mainstream, because it is completely opposed to fitting in."

Throughout your career, have you ever felt like you are part of the mainstream?
"No. You know, I've never been on Ellen or David Letterman or The Tonight Show, and there's a reason for that, which I don't want to go into, but there's a reason that I've never been thought of as someone who can go on there. Because it makes those hosts feel very, very uncomfortable, especially if we really talked. It would be the opposite of what they're used to. So am I part of the mainstream? No. People know my name, people know what I look like, but am I invited to the party? No, and there's a reason for it."

Would you want to be?

"No. In fact, I made a pact with myself when I was 15 that if I was going to live this life, I'm only going to do it on my terms, and I'm only going to do it if I'm putting my middle finger up at society the whole time. So any time I've had yearnings to go, "Aw, gee, I wish I could be invited to the Emmys," I say, Ru, Ru, remember the pact you made. You never wanted to be a part of that bullshit. In fact, I'd rather have an enema than have an Emmy."

The show is clearly one of the best reality shows, so it's insane to me that you haven't been nominated.
"It's not insane when you take the car apart and you really look at what the car is. You understand that it can't recognize it, because in doing so it would recognize all of the flaws in their doctrine, in their whole ideology. Drag doesn't conform. It's actually making fun of [conformity]. Now, the talk-show hosts … get it if I'm making fun of myself and if I'm a punch line for them, but not as a human being. They would have a transsexual on because a transsexual is saying, "This is who I really am. I'm real." I'm saying, "No, I'm not real. I'm actually everything and nothing at all.""

That's very Buddhist.
"I didn't come up with this shit. I studied. It is very Buddhist, and all roads lead to Zen and Buddhism. If you are a seeker and you want to know the answers, you're not the first person to go there. And you don't have to look that far for the answers. They're not encoded in this ancient scripture. It's actually right there in front of you. It's in that flower that I'm looking at right now or that tree over there or that mountain. It's all there."

What do you think of Lip Sync Battle and Jimmy Fallon?
"Oh, I don't think of it. It's a poor ripoff of our show. Regular, straight pop culture has liberally lifted things from gay culture as long as I can remember. And that's fine, because guess what? We have so much more where that comes from. Take it! That's why [my new show] Gay for Play is such a fun thing, because we've taken the best of the gay sensibility and put it all in one place. And we're showing these bitches how it's really done. But it's funny how that works, even in gay culture. There's a certain "gay shame." Gay people will accept a straight pop star over a gay pop star, or they will accept a straight version of a gay thing, because there's still so much self-loathing, you know?
They talk so much about acceptance now today and it's like, yes, but trust me — I'm old and I know this shit — it's superficial. Because as soon as the lights go out, you'll see how advanced people's thinking is. This so-called "Will & Grace acceptance" era is just people fucking posing. Things haven't changed that much. You see it in politics right now — that's the fucking truth of people. And you know, people will have you think, "Oh, we're fashion. We're gay. That's my gay over there!" It's like, no. We're still a very, very, very primitive culture."

Gayness is still treated as an accessory.
"Exactly. But if we can just cut out the self-loathing, we could get really far."

The Independent UK Blind Item - Well-Known Entertainer Blocks Story About Extramarital Three-Way Affair

A “well-known" entertainer has prevented The Sun on Sunday from printing details about his extra-marital sexual encounter.

The individual is referred to by the initials PJS and his wife is referred to as YMA in the case. Both are described as public figures.

Judges ruled PJS’s right to “private and family life” overrides The Sun on Sunday’s right to publish an article about his infidelity, under laws on freedom of expression.

This is the first injunction to reach the Court of Appeal for five years and is predicted to prompt the latest series of legal disputes between celebrities and the press over privacy injunctions.

The entertainer is reported to have had a “three-way sexual encounter” with another couple over four years ago.

“In 2007 or 2008 the claimant met AB. There is a conflict of evidence as to whether they met through a mutual friend or on Facebook. The claimant and AB had occasional sexual encounters starting in 2009,” Lord Justice Jackson explained in the appeal court judgment.

“AB already had a partner, CD. In a text message exchange on 15 December 2011, the claimant asked if CD was ‘up for a three-way’. AB said that CD was. Accordingly, the three met for a three-way sexual encounter which they duly carried out. After that encounter, the sexual relationship between the claimant and AB came to an end, but they remained friends.”

The "committed couple" approached Steve Kennedy, the editor of The Sun on Sunday newspaper, just a few months ago in January and told him about their relationship with the prominent figure.

The newspaper, which had been planning on publishing the story, got in touch with the entertainer’s lawyers who claimed the story would be an invasion of privacy, in turn prompting a courtroom dispute.

In the end, the court of appeal ruled the newspaper could not publish the story because the entertainer, who has an “open relationship” with his wife, had an expectation that his sexual activities would remain private.

The judge also took into account the effect the likely to ensue “media storm” would have on the young children of the couple. In their words, “The children would become the subject of increased press attention, with all that that entails”.

Giada Talks Life After Divorce

E! News recently caught up with Giada De Laurentiis, and she talked to them about life after divorce. Here's what she had to say:

"I had a rough year and a half, no question. But I think that all of us go through stuff. I checked out for a little bit. I tried to stay under the radar to protect my family and my daughter, mostly. But now I feel like I've turned the corner. I think that the pain was so raw for so long that I just felt like I couldn't [even talk about it]. I think that everybody takes their time to get over whatever it is they need to get over. Life is fun and great and I have so much fun with my daughter and I have someone new!"

On her post-divorce advice to others:
"Life is a big adventure and yes, there are curveballs that come your way. Take a minute. Breathe deeply. But if you're healthy, you can get through anything in this life. You just can."

On what's next for her:
"I think when you go back to your roots it just reboots you no matter what and gives you more inspiration to move forward and to do more creative thing...Sometimes I think we over-complicate things in this life, and it goes in everything that we do—it's not just our food. We over-complicate everything that we do. We overthink it. But if we just go to the core of what things are. The core is the same for everything."

But the fight for his joy and happiness gave him everything he needed. The fight to keep his family happy, his soul happy and those around him happy, gave him complete and unadulterated joy…until he heeded his father's call. The curious thing is that she didn’t get the dog and name it until she was already with her new man. We wonder if he knows about the origin of the dog’s name. We also wonder if this means that she is still pining over her ex!

The Gossip Life Blind Item - Make-Up Refusal

This A-list actress refuses to wear the make-up necessary for a role she plays. At first, she claimed it was due to allergies, and when the make-up team offered her an alternative, her agent told the producers that it all hides her appearance too much and that it effects the marketability of the series and the actress. The worst part of it all? None of these excuses / reasons existed during the filming of first installment of the series when our actress wasn’t such a big star.

"I am pleased to announce that the Armani Group has made a firm commitment to abolish the use of animal fur in its collections. Technological progress made over the years allows us to have valid alternatives at our disposition that render the use of cruel practices unnecessary as regards [to] animals. Pursuing the positive process undertaken long ago, my company is now taking a major step ahead, reflecting our attention to the critical issues of protecting and caring for the environment and animals."

Other members of the Fur Free Alliance include Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, and Ralph Lauren.

Bethenny Frankel Wins a Round In Divorce Court

Bethenny Frankel has been paying ex (well, still current) husband Jason Hoppy around $26,000/mo; almost $12K in temporary alimony, and around $10K for child support. A judge just ruled that Frankel no longer has to shell out for spousal support now, or at any time in the future. The ruling reads as follows, as reprinted by E! News:

"We find that the broad and expansive language used by the parties in their agreement forecloses the husband from seeking any kind of spousal support, including temporary support. After acknowledging and representing that they are ‘fully capable of being self supporting,' the parties agreed to ‘waive any and all claims for spousal support and/or maintenance' ‘both now and in the future.'"

While she won on the spousal support, the issue of their Tribeca condo is still up for grabs. Even though Frankel laid out the cash for the property, it was purchased in a Trust that named both Frankel and Hoppy as beneficiaries, so that issue has been punted to later down the line. Frankel filed for divorce from Hoppy in January 2013, and the case is still not settled.

Blind Gossip Blind Item - Jekyll and Hyde

People think that this comedic TV host must be as nice behind the scenes as they are on TV.

No. In fact, you don’t even have to go behind the scenes to see that they are not the same as their onscreen personality!

"We were shocked at [host’s] behavior! When the camera was on, it was all smiles and jokes. As soon as the commercial break came, [they] didn’t even look at the audience or the guest. Instead, [host] was slumped down in the chair, scowling and looking pissed off and tossing off nasty comments to the crew. Then as soon as the camera back on – boom! – back to smiley and nice.

The audience was looking at each other with their jaws dropped, like, “WTF was THAT?” It was shocking to see this full psycho transition over just a couple of minutes. BTW, you could tell that every member of the crew on that show is either terrified or unhappy. I would be, too, if my boss was Jekyll and Hyde!"
